  • But DC sure is an easy trip!  I'd bring a van load!

We were 4-2 last year...just keep winning boys.

  • We were 3-1 in our first 4 games and then we lost 3 in a row. So at no point last year were we 4-2. By the time we got our fourth win we already had four losses.

  • With 6 games left to go, if Snyder can win 3 more I feel confident of getting a bowl bid.

  • We are better then just going to a bowl game.  Seven wins would be a failure at this point.

  • Excluding VT, the easiest part of the sked is behind us.

No, we were not.  We started 3-1, then lost 3 on a row before evening up our record at 4-4 with a W over Houston.

  • Seeing Marshall play Army in the Nation's capital would be pretty cool... Plus its only a 5 hour drive from my house.

I would venture a guess that more Herd fans could get to DC for a weekend than could get to New Orleans.
    Marshall Matters

Marshall lost itself in the moment and proved it's the real slim shady in the state of West Virginia, shocking the Mountaineers for the second straight year with a 58-52 victory Wednesday.

  • I think that Mark has it wrong.  According to the Eaglebank Bowl website (http://www.eaglebankbowl.org/) the game is between the ACC and C-USA/Army, so I don't think we can play Army.  I would love to see the Herd in that bowl though.

At the beginning of the season I would have disagreed with your statement.  SMU is playing better, UTEP beat Houston, Southern Miss is always a good game, throw in WVU and it looks like you might be right.  We'll see how the rest of the season goes for all the teams on Marshall's schedule.  I just hope the Herd continues to get better every week.  The passing game has got to come around and the defense needs to step it up a little.  The best two games this season for Anderson and the offense has been against a I-AA team and Tulane that admittedly played to stop the run (which they did a good job of in the first half).

I think they are assuming ACC doesn't have enough teams to fills it's slots...

  • Plus I don't think ARMY has been to a bowl in several years...So they would likely get the selection

  • I'm sorry, but DC on December 29th is anything but a place to get away for a bowl. It will likely be blustery, cold, and blustery.

I will introduce you to a concept we call "the coat" my friend...I think it would be great....and those of us who froze our a**es off in Fort Worth will assure you that longitude is no assurance of comfort.

  • sign me up for DC if that's the case. Only negative is that its on a Tuesday, but I think being sandwiched in between Xmas and New years people will be able to get off work. Being only 6hrs from Htown and plenty of alumni in the VA/MD area, I think we'd be able to bring some fans.

Got to get bowl eligible first though...first things first..

After just getting back from a weekend in New Orleans, I am more than ready to return in December. I would much prefer New Orleans to DC. Better still, Jan 2nd in Memphis. A much better location and that would mean we are C-USA champs.
Today, I consider myself, the luckiest man on the face of the earth..

Location is not an assurance, but it is a reasonable predictor. I've used one those things you call a coat a time or two sitting in an open air stadium in 25 degrees. I'll stick to my previous sentiment. As for the Ft Worth comparison, if we have the same undeserving type team at the end of this year that we had that year, I'll not go for the same reason I didn't go to the Ft Worth de-bowlcle.

So let's hope we win the number Snyder needs to win, at least 8, and get invited to a bowl of some repute.

I've heard the opposite.  If Army doesn't become bowl eligible then it is an C-USA/ACC bowl, which makes sense if you go by the name of the bowl game alone.

EDIT: Nevermind, I thought the name of the bowl was the Armed Forces Bowl.  I apologize, its early!  ;)
