  • I am sick about Donnie....I say if HW goes, then we should just DROP basketball....Just drop it.....Add their budget to the football team's....Take the Henderson center and turn it into a indoor practice facility....

For once we might have a equal $$ to other top schools...

  • Don't know if I'd go that far but I wonder has this ever happened before, losing our football and basketball coach in the same school year?

If I remember correctly, we "lost" our basketball (Ellis Johnson) and football coach (Perry Moss) during the recruiting scandal in the 1960's.

People wonder why I flip out on this board. Threads like this are prime example. You're not a Herd fan. Leave this board immediately. Your attitude is not wanted here. I may speak for just myself or I may not. But seriously pal, with that kind of feeling, don't even show up to watch the football team practice. If anything should go wrong you'll start crying.
Good lord man, it's not like the entire team abandoned us! We lost a good coach to a program with more money. Boo hoo. Never happens before does it? Oh wait...IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!
This loss hit many people but didn't many of you see it coming? I think in the next few days we'll learn more of the motivation behind DJ's departure and what Hamrick plans to do about it. As one poster said, DJ wasn't Hamrick's man. Who knows...maybe Hamrick will land a perfect match for Marshall and you can come crawling back through the doggie door to get back into this message board because you sound like you've simply abandoned us right now.

  • If HW was on the fence, he totally gone now. Donnie saw the writing on the wall. Tyler, HW leaving. Kane will not be eligible for next year. Likely, we will be lucky to go .500 ball next year. His stock as a coach would have gone down. He got out of Dodge while the gettin was good. Nice loyalty coach and HW, thanks for nothing!

  • collectively, how many coaches has MU hired? thousands. still some get wound-up every time another one leaves. it happens. its gonna continue to happen. if a coach leaves for more money, or better facilities, or better contract, we have no one to blame but ourselves. bob pruett was probably the last coach that was willing to retire here.
If your so damn smart, why ain't you rich?

  • I don't understand why people have a tough time with the fact that we are a stepping stone school.  With the exception of Coach Pruett (who for all the negative things people say about him is THE most loyal man in sports when it comes to Marshall) every coach in my lifetime has either sucked and been fired or moved on to "greener pastures".

    Donnie Jones
    Billy Donovan
    Jim Donnan
    Stan Parrish
    George Chaump

IF YOU WIN AT MARSHALL...YOU LEAVE MARSHALL.  It's a sad fact...but it is a fact.

"When you take that field today, you've got to lay that heart on the line, men. From the souls of your feet, with every ounce of blood you've got in your body, lay it on the line until the final whistle blows. And if you do that, if you do that, we cannot lose."
