  • I would swear I saw thuggins try to tongue kiss Butler last night!!!!!! ;D

I'm sure thuggins would retort that he just cares that much for his kids.  If that were true he would have graduated more than one or two in his coaching career.

As much as I hate uspam I would never wish an injury on a kid.....hope he's ok.

    Go Herd!

  • DJ, pardon the thought, but it has nothing to do with what would or would not come back on me... the tongues thing isn't funny because it's over the line, imo... you can despise USPaM and most of us do... but if that were Pruett talking to Leftwich on the football field, we'd all say, "That's the kind of coach I want coaching my child."

  • In case you missed it, 2x, Butler recently proved what a classy young man he is:

    You should be ashamed.

  • 1. I was glad the eers got thier butts kicked.
    2. I hated to see the Butler kid get hurt.
    3. Huggins did appear to be concerned about his star player.
    4. MUHerd50 needs to get a grip.

  • Chill the f uck out everyone!
First off...no...Pruett wouldn't cradle him like that.
In fact, I think 99% of the coaches would NOT get that close.
Second, if the report of it being just a "sprain" is true...then Butler shouldn'tve gotten that attention.
Butler was on the ground FAR TOO LONG for such an injury...it took damn near 5 minutes to even get him to his feet. I'm surprised wvu didn't get a Technical Foul.
    Huggins got REALLY close.
Most importantly...it's wvu...ANYTHING they do if we...as Marshall fans...can make fun of it, rest assured we will.

  • First off...wvu fans outnumber ours at least 3 fold...so they'll always have more classless fans.
Second, I just read the link and article on Butler's injury...both the coach and the player said, "it's not that big of a deal."

So...why the hell are you acting like moms and dads telling us how we should cheer or what we should cheer for? Seriously...give it to them! You're acting as if no one ever cheers for someone getting injured...hey guess what? We didn't cheer for his injury anyway! We just made fun of the image.

Yes...now that I think about it...we are pathetic. We're nowhere near the class level of wvu fans are we? Because institutions like wvu with their fanbase would never sneer or make fun of a situation like that if it were Duke, right? Wow, we should feel inspired by their level of class because wvu fans are never awful to anyone or even unsportsmanlike...are they? ::)

  • Another thing...I think wvu got theirs with that injury added to the insulting ass whipping they recieved. Maybe it was for that fan who said, "Maybe Marshall should have another plane crash so they'll get the attention and have another movie made about them." Or hell, that one jerkoff who said, "y'all went down like your plane went down!" after the game in Charleston.

So the firm believer in Karma...you're right...and they got theirs.

    Setting the point straight...

Most of us tend to think that it's a GOOD thing when coaches develop strong, father-like relationships with their players.

There's plenty of other justifiable ways to take shots at Huggins and the rEers. But this is not one.

That is, unless you are the type of person who would make the same joke of that kind of thing if ever it happened between one of our coaches and one of our players (... which is the reason for the Pruett analogy).

  • I thought it was a bit much . I'm glad huggy showed concern but he came within an inch of his face , I just thought , what the heck ? I like Butler but I'm sure after watching it all on tv he's gonna say , what the heck Coach ?

  • No, he won't.

If he feels embarrassment, he'll feel it for himself for crying as he did about it.

But he'll only remember Huggins trying to comfort him at a moment that, no doubt, will be one of the most disappointing ones of his entire life. When he's a dad and later a grandfather, he may even be able to reflect on that and learn that there are times when you can't get so caught up in your masculinity to not reach out to that other person (yes, even if he's a male) who's hurting.

  • The comments made about Huggins and the injured player crossed WAY over the line and were in the same vein as the horrible stuff attributed to the thoughtless, mindless wvhoo fans with vicious t-shirts.

No I am not a wvu fan. I've been a HERD fan for a long time. Have spent hours working alumni efforts and have given to Big Green and Marshall Foundation for years.

These kind of comments do NOTHING to help Marshall in the eyes of anyone who might be reading. They are immature, childish and very disrespectful of a kid who had just won a national award for character, academics and high level of athletic achievement.

GROW UP and think. It's not necessary to tear down someone else to show how smart or wonderful your team is....

A very sad unclassy, not needed reaction.

  • if mark snyder had done something like this... people would have been a little weirded out... not everyone will react the same way to this ... the line between classy and unclassy is making fun of butler... but huggy... people will have their opinion about how he acted... which as i said... was super reassuring and heart warming... but it was on the creepy side

Hit the nail on the head. Hold your fallen player, comfort him, and encourage him. You can do all that without getting overly dramatic about it. As I said before, this thing happens all the time and you don't need to have homosexual innuendo to show the world you care. Huggy went a little far in the weird side to show his caring side.

Their fans would somehow justify their nasty comments if Coach K had done that to one of his players...but lord and heaven forbid...it's a cardinal sin to have it happen to one of theirs and even more if someone makes fun of the image and not the situation. Typical fragile egoed mountainqueer fans.

That is exactly how I felt. Last night I mentioned that it left me an image that might scar me for awhile & I was told how disrespectful & low class I was.  I have seen coaches console kids my whole life but nothing like that.
