there is more than one channel.  I have three Big Ten Channels myself.  I am not sure but maybe one is the main channel and the others are over flow.  DShoe can answer that.

We have like 4 channels down here on the Big Ten network. Plus we also have a Big Ten "On Demand" channel. I use Brighthouse Cable.

The Herd game will be on one of those channels.

They (Big Ten Net) use alternate feeds to "regionalize" coverage, typically you get the feed best suited for your area based on geographical interest in the BIG TEN team playing the game.  Many cable companies and satellite providers also carry some or all of the alternate feeds.

  • Thanks DShoe. I knew you would be able to give to correct answer.  I had read about it before but couldn't remember the exact explanation. It sure is nice to have someone such as yourself with the TV knowledge.

Any idea if CSS is going to get in Direc TV this fall?

Of course I'm not Dan, but I would doubt that would happen. CSS is there to promote their own cable interest. Want to see CSS games? Get Comcast cable. That would be their thinking.

Herdmeister, I would have agreed with you in the past on this but there has been a change of some loopholes by the FCC to prevent Comcast from blocking channels now.  Below are a couple articles about the changes where the cable companies will no longer be able to block competitors from the channels so this would mean to me that other cable systems and Satellite TV can go after these regional sports channels which would be good for all customers across the US.

Here is an article where the FCC ruled in favor of companies going against Comcast, etc
    Loop Hole Closed

And here is an article on the appeals process and how the FCC ruling stands
    Appeal Denied

Hopefully this means changes will be coming soon!!!
