Less then two weeks until the start of summer practices, Doc Holliday faced one of his first crises as Marshall's head coach.

Junior starting cornerback DeQuan Bembry was kicked after the team after being arrested for driving under the influence in Huntington last Sunday. Holliday kicked Bembry off the team three hours after his arrest.

Bembry had 33 tackles, three interceptions and a sack in 2009. Including Sunday, he has been arrested four times in 16 months.

Holliday remains confident the loss will not shake the secondary.

"We are going to step it up, and I am sure we'll get it done," Holliday said. "[Losing Bembry] is not a concern to me at all. We've got 4-5 guys on scholarships. We will be fine."

Holliday coached safeties under Urban Meyer at Florida from 2005-07.

With a tough schedule beginning with a night game at the Horseshoe against Ohio State, Holliday understands the urgency of getting the team sharp in summer practice.

"Number one, I just look at our schedule. We don't have a lot of time, we've got to get better in a hurry," he said. "We can't let a day go by where we aren't improving. We open with a great Ohio State ballclub, and our first seven opponents went to bowl games last season."
