  • Is that bitchin' or what?

Looks like they have track lanes on the left side of the field.

If we are going to do it right, we need one with an indoor track that circles the field and a few bleachers
for indoor track meets (that will get Jeff Small's attention real quick).

And while you're at it....how about an extention for an indoor golf practice area, like one of the mac schools
    IPF has.

You know, an extra $ mill. will go a long way in the upgrade of an IPF.  ;D

  • I picture that an IPF could be filed on gamedays for big green members. I believe that it would be a great way to raise money for the athletic department as well provide a place for all the athletic teams to practice in undesireable weather.

True but they've produced some high profile players and NFL alum. I'm sure their booster program is larger than our BG membership. You're right though, very disheartening.

  • Massillon is a private school that i believe is associated with the Catholic church. As someone said they have produced many NFL players.  Also one time MU coaching candidate and former ND coach Jerry Faust coached at Massillon.  I think that MU has had at least one player and perhaps another that played at Massillon.

  • Massillon Washington is a public city school.   Great football tradition.  They play Canton-McKinley in one of the biggest high school rivalries in the nation, including Texas, each year.  My Dad used to coach up that way at Wooster and Mogadore and Massillon was the biggest and best not only in that area, but in all of OH and PA.

.    I work 45 min from Massilon, work with a guy that lives there, know a whole family that went to school there & am 99.9 % positive it is a public school system.  That town has lived for football for almost 100 years. Gerry Faust coached at Cincinnati Moeller in the 80's. It is associated with the catholic church.  Not trying to be an ass just trying to help out with the facts.

  • Is that where the NFL hall of fame is located? Also, is that not the same stadium that the NFL plays a preseason game as well? I may be wrong, but thought it was pretty close to there.

It's not as uncommon as you might think ... During the lead up to the Super Bowl ESPN radio was reporting how the Packers and Steelers were working out at the IPF's of local high schools ... They also talked about how they were nicer facilities than anything that either team had of their own ... And those were NFL teams.

  • I cannot believe that a high school has a better indoor facility than we will likely ever have.

Its a huge high school in NE Ohio. They have quite the tradition there. Paul Brown started his coaching career there. They usually have around 15-20K for their football games.

Check out some Texas High Schools and their stadiums/facilities. They put most of the MAC to shame; and us in a way or two. ugh!

Nah, I just like the look with all the glass on the front. With some little changes, it'd look good on campus

  • wow very nice, but it seems like the roof is kind of low.  I guess you don't practice punting / punt return in an IPF?

The high school adjacent to the Pro Football HOF is Canton-McKinley.  The C-M and HOF stadium is Fawcett Stadium.

Massillon isn't too far away, though, which explains the hard-core rivalry between Massillon and Canton-McKinley.  Massillon plays in Paul Brown Stadium.

  • No problem right stuff. Massillon is located just west of Canton. They are practically one city. The NFL hall of fame & Fawcett Stadium where they play the hall of fame game is located in Canton just off I77.      It is a great rivalry between Massilon & Canton McKinley.   Former NFL player & ESPN announcer Chris Spielman attended high school @ Massilon. Was even on a box of Wheaties his Sr year.

  • Reminds me of the story link that was posted here several months ago about the $60,000,000 high school football stadium that was built in Texas.  They have 18 NFL players as alums and 6 players on the team now are sons of NFL players.

  • In the 70s they were considered the best HS football team in the country. I don't recall the exact link but it has something to do with Paul Brown being a coach once upon a time.

  • The article stated that th building cost 3 million! That building is the first phase of the "dream project" that will total 6 million when completed! I thought it look a lot more expensive than that!

The government bidding process along with grossly inflated union wages would drive the cost to triple that here in West Virginia.

  • Woodberry Forest HS in VA has an 18 hole golf course on top of all that ipf stuff. This isn't a new thing but lots of those ipfs are impressive.
