  •   Looks like the Boilers will be coming to the Joan 2 years earlier than expected, per this new release from Purdue.

Purdue athletics director Morgan Burke has announced changes to the future football schedules in regards to Marshall and Cincinnati.

"We are very appreciative to both schools," Burke said. "We have been asked by the Big Ten Conference to provide some flexibility with our future schedules beginning in 2017, and both Marshall and Cincinnati worked with us to help comply."

The Boilermakers will face the Bearcats on the road on Aug. 31, 2013, and at Ross-Ade Stadium on Sept. 3, 2016, as was previously scheduled. The 2014 and 2015 meetings have been canceled.

The Boilermakers and Thundering Herd will meet up as planned at Ross-Ade Stadium on Sept. 29, 2012, and the 2017 contest has been rescheduled with Purdue heading to Marshall on Sept. 5, 2015, instead.

  • On the one hand great to see them continuing to schedule us rather than dropping us.

I can't help fearing they are counting on us as a give me, easy win. If that's the case and the Herd does improve under Doc the way many of us are predicting, they may turn around and drop us yet.

Hope Hammrick was able to negotiate a big$ buyout clause and maybe even was able to raise it as part of our cooperation in renegotiating the date.

  • What this tells you is that there is going to be major conference realignment in the future and the schools are preparing for that.  I am glad to see that we will at least get our games in before all of the changes.  Great way to start a season.  The Herd will be good.  Either Doc will have us where we want to be or there will be a new coach in place this year.  No way Doc is still our coach in 2015 unless the team is winning.

Agreed.  The Big Slow 10 asking their teams to "clear" their schedules post 2016 tells me that the BsCS conferences "know" that something is getting ready to happen large.  I look for a lot of schedules to change.  There is a buzz on www.fbschedules.com right now.  Tons of activity.

Like I said in a previous thread, and we all know it really, it's coming.  We need to get as many games as we can before we are "relegated" to "Bowl Championship Sub-Division Part A" or whatever the hell they are going to call us.

  • Maybe we should try to take Purdue's place with Cincy since they now have two games they need to fill due to the 2014 and 2015 games being cancelled.

Wouldn't that be prefect!!!  I'm sure Hammrick mentioned it to them...

  • I would be cool to get Purdue and Cincy at home for the 2015 season.  It could be worked out I'm sure.

Yes, because Purdue can really afford to drop us for someone worthy...because they're so dominant in the Big Slow Conference.
Marshall can beat Purdue. they honestly don't have a hope in hell over the horizon to really be anything special.
win over a big Ten school is good and beat who you can. Marshall is perfectly capable of beating them.
I almost forgot Purdue was a school and thought good chicken.

It does suggest some other agenda, starting in 2017. Purdue only has Notre Dame and presumably 3 blank spots now. That is a lot of flexability.
