LINEBACKERSErik Clanton, 6-3, 242, The Citadel: A defensive end in college, Clanton will play outside linebacker for the Steelers. In 29 games – seven starts – over his first three seasons, Clanton totaled 52 tackles and 4.5 sacks, but then he really blossomed as a senior. In 2010, Clanton was voted first-team All-Conference after posting 14 tackles-for-loss and nine sacks. At his pro day workout, Clanton ran a 4.83 and did 11 repetitions in the bench press. He had signed with Montreal of the Canadian Football League, but he was released before the Alouettes’ season began
Former MU LB Mario Harvey Signs With Pittsburgh Steelers, Not Bills by Woody WoodrumHerd Insider Senior EditorBUFFALO, N.Y. - The first report about a former Marshall linebacker who went undrafted this past spring was he would be heading to upstate New York.After the NFL settled its strike, early reports had former Marshall University outside linebacker Mario Harvey has agreed to sign as an un-drafted free agent (UDFA) with the Buffalo Bills, according to the websites www.NEPatiotsDraft.com and www.buffalobillsdraft.com.Harvey and the other players listed below had agreed, in principle, to deals, and these become official Tuesday morning after the deals are signed and forwarded to the National Football League's offices.Apparently, however, the deal in principle was sent to the Principal's Office about 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, as the Pittsburgh Steelers announced Harvey had agreed to a contract with the defending AFC champions.Harvey would join other former Marshall players, in teammate Doug Legursky - starting center for the Steelers in the Super Bowl last February - and back-up quarterback Byron Leftwich.
