  • No. It isn't, our uniforms have changed more than obomas side on the current problem.  Something changes every year. Yes the colors have been changed in some years as well.

    Close-minded.  Old-fashioned.

Thank God, we aren't paying Him to lead us, and that we aren't following that traditional crap.  He'll we can't even keep the Marco tradition going.

I know one thing, tradition green and white will do nothing to get recruits we might not ordinarily get interested in us.  The Kelly green was a start, now we have to improve on it. I agree only once or twice a year.

Guys now that the players are coming out publicly in support for it, what we all think doesn't mean dogsh!t!! The train has left the station herdfans!! It is invertible now.  Sooner or later, it's coming, no stopping it.

    !!!!! None!!!!!!!! Lol

  • Yeah, I guess I am old fashioned. He*ll I don't even have a cell phone. Don't want one of the damn annoying things either.
But you want some black trim, fine.
You want black as a major color or something like that? Not fine. Black isn't green and it isn't white. Therefore it isn't a Marshall color.

  • 2012 will be the 20th anniversary of our first N.C.  I know a throwback is not really going to be much different but it would be a start.  Really missed the boat this past season with the 40th. anniversary of the 1971 team.

Not interested in an all black jersey.

Get on board or get out of the way? That's the only choices? I think RESIST is a choice too and I think it is the right choice.
I am reminded of an old saying: "You need to stand for something or you will fall for anything."
Maybe that's why I am a traditionalist and you are a person at the whim of change.

  • Oooh, its for the children. That's so syrupy sweet if I already wasn't a diabetic it would probably give me sugar diabetes.

Traditions are traditions for a reason and the tradition is green and white uniforms.

You keep spouting tradition. What is our tradition? Please tell me, because we have had tons of different uniforms and color configurations, including silver and yellow. Our helmet logo has constantly changed. So please tell me what the tradition is. Also it seems that you have failed to look at the manuals posted above that outline the official school colors. Also how do you feel about Kelly Green? It's not the official school color.

You are right. In 1903 Marshall changed its school colors from Black and Blue to Green and White. So if we really wanted to go to Black uniforms there is a basis. There is also a basis for Blue. And we could add a little Gold trim and make SOOOOO many of you guys really hap, hap, happy!!!

You do not seem to understand that there are many more STANDING on the opposite side of the fence from you.

Just because somebody else is standing for a different opinion does not mean they have fallen for anything.

I think this sums up your argument:

  • guys, we certainly appreciate everyone's passion for the team wardrobe but let's say we table this lively debate until August.

we are wearing white jerseys in the bowl.

maybe we can argue about green pants or all white?   ;)

It about the principle of the conversation....

I do not understand why anybody would care one way or the other. Black is very neutral as it is not even a color. White is the presence of all colors so technically we have every color in our uniforms.

Black goes with anything just as white does. Why do you think so many wear black dress pants?

My main point to those that are upset about any potential addition of black to our uniforms would be why do you care? It is not even a color so we really are not adding anything anyway.

I don't care if we stay the same or if we add black.

Oh and btw if this did ever happen it would only be for special occasions anyway so where is the problem? You can't handle if FOR ONE GAME????

100% of the athletes want this to happen and at least 80% of the fans so I suggest all of the older fans that are stuck in their ways throw away their typewriters, beepers, and pet rock and get with the times.

Some times tradition is great and many love tradition, but other times it is simply holding back progress. This has the potential to help both marketing and recruiting so why not give it a chance? It really cannot hurt anything other than old people's feelings.

And you have polled 100 per cent of the athletes and 100 per cent of the fans to get these numbers?
    No, I didn't think so.
You are right, it is about principle. Black trim is one thing. Black as a dominate color is another. White has long been accepted as an "away" alternate to green in football and the home alternate in basketball, since Marshall lists its colors as Green and White.
Black is nowhere in that equation.
I am sorry to be so obstinate on this. I wish I could say "it just doesn't matter" and let it slide. But for some reason (tradition maybe) it does matter.

But black is not even a color. It is the absence of it.

White is the presence of all color.

So technically we have every color in the spectrum in our school colors.

And even if we didn't adding black would be like adding nothing because it is nothing as far as color is concerned.

Again you have brought up tradition and again you haven't answered it. What tradition in regards to uniform are you talking about?

  • Gaylen, why are you taking such personal offense to the possibility of change? Like I and many others have stated, you are in the minority. Many if not most of the fans would and all of the athletes would get on board for this, but you act like the school will implode on itself if this happens. Times, they are a changin' sir, you can choose to adapt and keep up or stay in your cave and be mad at the world. I think you have chosen the ladder. Keep being angry, there is nothing any of us can do about it, but its going to happen eventually. Like someone else asked that you seem to refuse to answer, what is this tradition that you refuse to let go of? Hmm? When it does happen, are you hanging up your green colored glasses? Not 'traditional' enough for you?

It is latter, not ladder, but I digress ...
Really, I am not mad. I guess I am saddened by people willing to throw Marshall's colors -- Green and White -- away for something that would look cool by going with a basic black shirt or pant outfit. It may be progress as some feel but I am not sure it is good progress.

As to another point, actually you could look at black and white as additive or subtractive colors then one would be the combination of all colors (white is that in additive colors) while the other is the combination of all colors the other way (black is that in subtractive colors).
But that is an argument that we could go long and hard into without a real definitive winner so making a point by using the argument that black is not a color thus could not offend one's sense of color is not a true argument and therefore really could not be used as an argument until a definition of which actually is the absence of color, black or white?
I do wish those that disagree would not personally vilify me for not wanting to add something that is not part of the traditional color of the school -- green and white -- with cheap attacks about age and the possibility of a need for an adult undergarment. Frankly, I do not need them.

  • I figure his answer will be, we already have traditiOns in place to honor the victims.  Wearing green and white is the traditiOn that most honors them.

Lost cause... I gave up a while ago, but it's so good you can't completely stay away.  I honestly think so the minority hating black so so much makes a lot of the majority like it even more.  Lol, but really, those keely green unis with the black numbers are some of the nicest I've seen,  I dont think he realizes, now that we have seen the photoshopped pick with the Kelly green jerseys and black numbers, none of want to do all black anymore, at least I don't.  Id love a peapod look with black numbers.  I always used to want green pants, black jersey, green numbers.  Not anymore, and I get the vibe most agree, maybe nit though.

I feel like in order for it to be in memory of... It would need to be predominately black, nit just the numbers.  I'd rather go with just the numbers and it be for a big game!!
