  • Anyone have any experience with Echo weed trimmers?

Considering buying this one at Home Depot

    http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-100675439/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=echo+trimmer&storeId=10051

Gets good reviews on Consumer Reports, and on Home Depot.  Considering a Stihl as well, but it is about $40 more.

  • I bought one 8 years ago when I bought my house. It still fires up on the first pull. I love it. I've owned Craftsman, Stihl, etc... and this is by far the best that I've ever owned.

  • My brother-in-law has one and he likes it....Works with no problems....Not sure the exact model but it was around $250.00

But, the good thing about Echo is they have a 5 year warranty and home depot are usually good about customer service...

  • Echo = Awesome.  Love their stuff, great quality/reliability and not terribly expensive.  You can't go wrong IMO.

  • Red Max makes very high quality trimmers, too...But, they might be overkill for someone that trims a hour a week for 14-18 weeks a year....

  • Echo is top flight equipment.  Unusual since they sell it in the big box stores.  That's often the domain of cheap throw away junk.

My son works in landscaping and he's partial to stihl and shindawa but what he's using is a whole lot more expensive so not really fair to compare.

  • Did you ever get that Echo?  My Bolens crapped out and I'm on the hunt for a new trimmer.

Ditto exanimate...... I owned everthing but a Stihl..... cause deep down, I am a tight wad skin flint, and they are high dollar ;D. But I have had this this exact weedeater for 4 seasons, and it cranks up everytime.......even after winter...I will look into an Echo lawn mower when the time comes to replace the Troybuilt.

I just bought one myself last year, and loved it.  Got it our a few weeks ago and it fired right up.  I, as well, don't think you can go wrong.

  • I have one. It is awesome. One word of advice though, don't get one with the "Rapid Load" head. It was a pain in the butt. I ended up ordering a bump head online after only using the rapid load 3 times.
