"Hi Chris Maathuis here. Boise State coming back into the fold. My source telling me that Boise will remain in the Mountain West Conference and not go to the shaky and unstable Big East Conference."

As expected, Boise State sent its letter of resignation to the Mountain West Conference on Saturday, according to UNLV president Neal Smatresk.

  • WOW...looks like this is all but true.... now we need to figure out if this is good or bad for us.

Is it possible the Big East now takes So Miss & ECU?

  • Hoping this is true. Then ND leaves, split happens, ECU and USM may go to BE at tgat point. We need to hope for the invite. Would love for Louisville to stay in the fold, but they'll be hoping for B12 or ACC.

Man, we need to get back with our Rivals.

Hoping for a strong BE and a strong MWC as the two leagues chasing the ACC for #5.

  • Widely accepted that Big East football TV contract needed Boise.

Another serious blow, and it won't be solved by inviting ECU.

I look for a MWC, CUSA *and* Big East football alliance.

  • Hopefully they wait a year to add anyone and we have good years in both football and basketball. At least we do have a tv market. The Big East already has name recognition in our state so it would be good for both sides. Think UCF would lobby for us since we helped get them in the MAC and CUSA?

  • Wow!!!

If this is true, it could really bode well for MWC and could be good or bad for CUSA and Marshall.

  • They seem to be the only outlet reporting this. Would this not be big news? What about SD State?

The only news out there about BSU is that the NCAA is going to reconsider their sanctions. I call SHENANIGANS...

  • MWC board is reporting that Wyoming's AD has also tweeted this. This went further than a tweet. It was on the local news in Las Vegas, so it was actually aired on tv. Still doesn't make it official, but a lot more news legit than a tweet.

  • It seems like the Big East is about to crumble and die.

  • It's going to be a short lived conference...and once someone leaves...it not the same conference anymore and they will get out for free...

  • I think UofL will leave the Big East, but I'm not sure where the rest would go.  Maybe Boise can make it to one of the top five conferences in a few years, but I doubt it.  I don't see the Big East crumbling.   It won't be as strong as it was with the Eerdiots, Pitt and Syracuse, and nowhere near its strength with VT, BC and Miami, but still stronger than C-USA.

  • Well, with Boise going BE, it helps CUSA to stabilize and grow.

Alot of folks may not like the current CUSA, but it is what it is and Marshall needs CUSA to hold together to have a decent conference home.

Anything is better than returning to the MAC.
