as I recall he wasn't big on Herrion either.

so, while many of us are expecting some big things the next 1-3 years in both major sports...one of our big fans is still in a sour mood.  hope he is wrong

Will you beat the drum for that even though you know that there is less than zero chance of a change happening?  Just wondering.

  • No way we lose 8 games. If we do, I will make a donation to the BG in GreenSteve's name.

  • Some of these predictions are plain funny.  You guys do realize that Doc's only lost to a CUSA team at home one time don't you?  Tulsa, Houston, and UCF are unbelievably overrated.

  • GS is alright with me.
I don't agree with his prediction but I respect his opinion.

And I also agree that if Herd only wins 4 games, it's time for a change and start over with someone else.

No doubt.  And maybe the person in charge of the "less than zero chance" should be looking for a new position too.   An overall record of 4-8, with a home record of 2-4, would be completely unacceptable.

    8-4.

  • I don't see anything better then 6-6 this season. There are no stars on this team to speak of. And this team is largely mad up of the same players that only played hard about 40% of the time last year. I don't doubt the talent - it is the effort that is lacking. You look at every lose from last season except wvu and there is no effort from the time the ball is kicked off. Ohio was the worst thing I have seen in some time. Until this team learns to play hard every time it hits the field then I can see no better then 6-6.

You don't doubt the talent, but there are no stars?  Ever heard of Dobson?  If we only played hard 40% of the time, how did we win more than half of our games?

  • I'm regularly on here dissing the offensive strategy since 2010 but I do think that Doc takes very little guff if any and with the depth he's accumulating, I figure he will find room on the sideline for any that dont wanna grunt. Speaking of depth, how many times have we had 6 DTs all that go 275-300 plus? OL is always a question mark on here but when camp starts we will have 18 scholarship players plus a few WOs. I'm not sure how many we will win but if I had to gamble I would say more than 4 and 8....jeez....I wouldnt post that even if I felt it. I guess I just will never understand the naysayers and glass half empty crowd that profess love for everything Marshall.

  • Love has nothing to do with a prediction. Love would have something to do with a wish list, but not a prediction.
And the naysayers have been more correct than not the last 7-8 years.

  • Yeah you're a genius like ol Phil. He predicted 4 wins last yr. I want recruits to see optimists on the board so love does matter. Its one thing to gripe when things go wrong but to whine before the fact looks like PMS.

    for whatever reason...it's a shame.

  • Honestly, I think GS wanted Pruett back and didn't approve of Doc as head coach and still doesn't have faith in him.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

    Again, no disrespect to GS.

I said love but I meant in it terms of faith and belief, maybe I should have used different words....

But, call it what you want, when people say that our team is going to lose 70% of our games, it means they do not have faith or belief in our players and coaches....

And that's not disrespecting him....at least not anymore than he is disrespecting the young men wearing kelly green....

  • Friends, Herdfans, countrymen...

I wanted to respond to a couple of things here. This needs to be said.

2X... I posted that prediction on this board. Check the "Expectations" thread. I'm not hiding anything. There was no need to go to the Grapevine. It was here all the time.

This thread is exactly why I left my position as a moderator at Herdfans. If an opinion runs counter to the flow here, the poster gets vilified. I got sick of it.

One more thing. There's a very big difference between a fan on the Internet and a donor. I'm a donor. I have been for nearly 20 years. I contribute to the Big Green, The Foundation, and I'm a season ticket holder (just renewed for football today). Ask a lot of people on these boards if they've ever gotten free football tickets from me. I paid for those and gave them away and have done so for years. Last season, the Atlanta Alumni Association needed a donation for the softball team. They asked me for part of the money they needed...I gave them all that they needed. I'll do it again, if asked.

Wolfman (and others) know how much I've contributed to HerdFans events, The Big Green, the football program and the foundation. And, I'll continue to do that. Regardless of what's said about me on this board, or any other board. Please keep that in mind when you talk about loyalty.

For the record, I have predicted Doc's record over the last two years, excluding the bowl game. I'm 21 out of 24.

    Enjoy the season,

    GreenSteve.

  • Hey GS, don't be a stranger. You have always been a good poster even though I disagree with 4-8 myself. I see a BIG year for MU. Sadly, your analysis of those who vilify others is true but limited. There are more good folks on here than those. You can always use the IGNORE button  ;D.

After last years WVU game, I got " Vilified " for posting my post game analysis and told to go back to the WVU board with my friends. The truth was I just got home from Sarasota with our alumni group where I won the 50-50 drawing at halftime and donated the money back. Those who bring negativity to this board have caused more than a few to leave here. Its sad.

  • I dont agree with GreenSteve's prediction, but he is a friend of mine...a very good friend at that.  Same goes for 2x.  What I see are two guys that are a generous Herd supporters who just happen to view where the program is differently.  One will be wrong and the other will be right.  Lets just let it play at and see where we are when the season wraps.
