Marshall certainly was not the only team to struggle in the first week of the season. In fact, out of 12 Conference USA football teams, only two came up victorious in the season's opening weekend. That's right -- two.Of those wins, only UCF's 56-14 win over Akron provided a victory against a team in the Football Championship Subdivision. The other win was East Carolina's 35-13 win over Appalachian State, a member of the Southern Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).Most shockingly, Houston lost to Texas State, 30-13 -- a loss that was followed by Houston offensive coordinator Mike Nesbitt's resignation after his first game at the position.
