HUNTINGTON – Doc Holliday wants Marshall football fans to knew he doesn’t feel much different than those of you sitting in Section 118 – or whatever section, row or seat -- of Edwards Stadium.

Holliday spent a good portion of his weekly press conference explaining that he’s about as green around the gills about a 54-17 loss to the Knights as those in Herd Nation sporting the kelly color.

“For us to get where we got to go, we’ve got to win games like that,” Holliday said Tuesday. “For me as a head coach, for everybody, that’s what Marshall University has to do to get this program to where our fan base wants it, where I want it, where everybody wants it.

“We all want to win championships, that’s what it’s all about and you’ve got to win those games, or you can’t do that.”

  • Call me crazy, but I still believe him.  Our season, record-wise, may end up like Leftwich's sophomore season.  We shall see.  Go Herd!

  • I was just thinking about that 2000 team today.  Not one of our best, but I think that was my favorite season in all my years as a Herd fan. They got humbled by Toledo, lost to Western Michigan at home (which at the time was a big deal, think that was Pruett's first home loss) but they figured it out and finished strong.  That was a great coaching job that season.

It's time to forget about UCF.  Move on and finish strong.

Side note:  Was going through the records to verify if that was Pruett's first home loss and realized that we only lost 3 home games during his tenure.... the good old days!

And as of right now MU has lost 3 in a row at home.

  • I love the Herd, and will be at every home game.  If the bowl game works out, I will make every attempt to go to that also.  That being said, we have lost to every team that mattered this year.  Winning out against a horrible slate of teams doesn't have much meaning IMO.

As Stick always says "a conference win is a conference win," but I say that a win against the bottom of the conference doesn't mean anything if you can't EVEN be competitive with the top of the conference.

  • The goal of being at the top of the conference is over for this year. Painful as it is to admit. Time to set new feel good goals. Got to win out against less than stellar teams, win a bowl and recruit defensive players. We owe Houston a whipping and I never tire of beating ECU.
