Topic: How The #$%^ does Kane not know how to shoot a free throw?

Can anyone explain this to me? Free throws is one of the first things you learn as a shooter, I can still hit 9 out of 10, It is a simple freaking shot, I just don't get it how him as a shooter can not make the easiest one. I know he is not the only one missing but he should never miss. This is going to be one piss poor season if we don't get our act together, Someone needs to take charge and tell the guys on the team either play ball or freaking quit and give other guys on the bench a chance.

The free throw shooting is clearly in Kane's head. When I played competitive basketball when I was younger I used to be automatic at the line but then midway through one season I lost it. I would hit 90% of my free throws in practice but was lucky to hit 60% in the games. I hope for his sake and the team's he gets it turned around. I also think he needs to assume the role of team leader which it appears we don't have right now.

If he comes back next year he needs to go see Jimmy Clayton or someone and change his horrrible mechanics. Bringing the ball back behind his ear and shooting with all elbow is his biggest problem. Instead of getting the ball up over his forehead wher the ball is in line with his eyes and the basket and mainly using his WRIST not his elbow. His mechanics is horrible.

Amen brother. GB60 thinks he's the damn Dr. Phil of hoops and that he is an NBA scout. Truth is Kane leaves more bball skill in the commode after a good sh!t than this chump could ever dream of having.

Definitely skilled, but I just don't see him in the NBA at all at this point. Athletically yes, as a baller, no.

I meant GB60 thinks he is so knowledgeable about hoops, not Kane. I would think all of Dre's previous accolades should prove he is a very good player but some on here just want to cry around about his "bad" attitude and shooting.

I'm going to throw something out that is a new trend in sports... Have him visit a sports psychologist.

Free throws imo are mental and then mechanical. Mentally you gotta go up there and know you can make it. Mechanically you have to have a routine and shot you know you can make it with. Create muscle memory in a new shot this off season if things stay at a certain rate.

I'd still put the psychologist to the top of the list for help.

Hey the right stuff....these guys don't have a clue what reall basketball talent looks like. Like i have said there are a lot of things i really like about Kanes game. But they think he is this great basketball talent and he doesn't even come close to the total package. If he doesn't get his mechanics corrected and stop shooting the ball by cocking it from his shoulder by his ear instead of at the top of his forehead where he can lineup his shot and use his WRIST then he will be very inconsistant. The guy is shooting about as bad as anyone in the country and he never was a GOOD shooter. Shooting airballs from the FREEthrow line and throwing up backboard bashing bricks from 3....GEEZEEEEE!!!!

Agree.  He hasn't been playing well but some of these guys act like they are Michael Jordan.  What we need is a shot coach like Dan Bell for those that remember him.

 If  free  throws  made  or  break  you  in  the NBA  then  please  explain  Dwight  Howard  or  Shaq O'Neal.  Fact is that free throw shooting is down because it is not practiced enough.  Not important to the players these days.

Those guys are centers that are hard to find. Kane's size is a dime a dozen. And Kane will NOT be in the NBA unless he somehow changes his mechanics and gets MUCH better shooting the ball. I can't believe some of you that would even think he has a chance at going to the league.

GB60 I have a question just for you and shooting with the league. How do you compare Kane to Rajon Rondo?

I'm aware Rondo has higher FG percentages based on understanding his game more and not shooting as much. I'm also not saying Kane is Rondo, just wanting your perspective on two players who struggle with a jumper and iffy mechanics.

Curious. If you are the only one that knows anything about basketball on this board, then why in the world are you wasting your time here? Surely there is some coaching position out there somewhere that could use your expertise.

That's laughable exanimate. I'm not the only one that thinks this way by a LONG shot. We are playing about as bad of basketball right now than we have in decades as ateam. And some of you think we have NBA players on this team? If you think the style of play Herrion is using is getting the most out of what he has GREAT> I'm happy for you and anyone else that thinks that way. It does remind me of the Snyder argument a few years back when i was getting attacked from all sides because Snyder was the man, remember? I don't think i'm some great expert. I'm not saying he will or won't. I don't get to watch hardly any games and I'm actually trying to get decent insight. I respect your opinion GB60... Based off his assists rate odoes he have NBA vision? Is he a tenacious rebounder from a guard spot on an NBA level? Shooting certainly hurts, but Rondo stayed in, Tyreke is a pretty awful shooter. What categories if any do YOU see possible NBA talent at? I don't get to watch enough games to know or despute how you feel, so if its zero categories I'm ok with it.

Scotty i'll put it this way. If he had a much better shot, he would have a real chance at the NBA and probably make it. He has good court vision and is a big strong guard at 6'4". He isn't a great ball handler but he does get by. Like i said the only thing holding him back is his shot. I wish he did have a better shot because then we would have a true great one. But then he probably wouldn't have ended up here.
