  • I am with Luvthatherd.  I bet this happened early and it explains the air balls from floor and line.  Not bashing Kane but his shooting was very sub par.  Well actually terrible.  He is the best player on the team and I mean player.  Playing out of position and doing what he is doing and finding out he has (or had) a broken hand is crazy! Now the question is ....... what are we going to do now?  Coach Herrion has his hands full at this point.  Hopefully coach has a plan......

  • girthy you are a real piece of work. Let me say it again real slow for you. I said all along that he had some really good parts to his game. I never EVER said he should be sitting or should not be on the team. I did say he is a very bad shooter and he is. You don't shot many airballs from the "FREE"throw line and throw up airballs and also smack them off the backboard from 3 if you are even close to a good shooter. Will this hurt us? SURE it will. Mainly because we just don't have a true PG on the team including him. Now if we did and had someone like Canty, it wouldn't near as bad because we have guys that can play the wing like Pittman and Scarver. But i'm not all tore up about this, because we were headed for a really bad year anyway. We were looking at 15-15 at best IMO and not even a CIT bid.

  • I believe you will see a better team without him that will score more points and not be so mentally weak. Time and a few games will tell.

I hope you are right.  People think that I want to see Kane fail.  I don't.  I'm a Herd fan and I just get tired of the antics on the court or field that embarrass the university.  I do think without Kane we will have a lot of trouble getting the ball up the floor against UC's press.

  • For some reason, I expect more out of Marshall fans... a player hits 1000 points...as a sophomore, scores 40 in a 3 OT game to propel us to the conference finals and ultimately the NIT, first team pre-season all-conference, leads team in scoring, but doing so while struggling with his shot and being in the top 5 in the country in assists. Oh yeah...the team loses their PG before the season and he plays out of position for the good of the team...but our fans still find reason to bash and boo him.  It really is unbelievable.  Get well soon Dre!  You will be missed!

I appreciate him having the willingness to move to point.  Once again, it's his antics on the court that bothers me.

  • Would it be possible to get a medical redshirt?  I do realize we are talking about MU.

I don't know all the rules anymore. There was a time you could if you played less than 30% of the schedule before the injury. That would mean it is close.

However, Assuming he makes it back by no later than mid February, I would think Herrion would rather have him for the last 3 weeks of the regular season and the tournament.

Agreed and his age may also be a factor.

Not to mention that he lost his father last season.

you will be proven wrong.  The only positive is for these guys to learn to play without him carrying load.  Maybe when he gets back we can make tourney run.

Regular season is toast now - unless amayo, Boykins or manning is all world out of nowhere running PG

  • Without Kane I look for everyone's intensity and focus to pick up.

My best guess is that Herrion might tell Boykins, Amayo, Manning to "just go play".

"Do what you do, play basketball." That little weave at the top of the key, how hard is that to execute. I bet these guys hit some big shots in the half-court and get out and run when we can.

I think we're gonna be OK. Not great but competitive in CUSA play.

I think we will hold serve in the Cam and win a few on the road. .575 to .625 basketball.

  • As to Kane's "attitude" I would rather have players who really care and get frustrated than someone who is not ermotional.  Yes T's are bad but malaice is worse IMO.

  • I agree totally with 84 . Kane's head is not always in the complete game . His concentration at the foul line is lacking .

Agreed. Kane, for all his antics makes the team go. Hasn't been going very well, but he'll be missed.

I hope i am not proven wrong. The one time i saw the team without kane, they were amazintly efficient. That was last year, granted, but only a few days and cincinatti will be a darn good test. I wasnt going to drive in for this one after the wvu meltdown, but i will now to see what a team can be without a kobe bryant wanna be that cant shoot.

  • Dre - get well young man, you came to Marshall with passion and I for one appreciate your desire to win.   Hopefully your teammates will pick up the intensity and work even harder to win.  Maybe by tournament time you can return and help us win the CUSA tournament............  Keep your head up.....

His defense will be GREATLY missed. Did you ever notice that in most cases, he is assigned to play the other team's top player?

  • Kane should be returning in Feb., and the other guards (Boykins, Manning, & Amayo), by that time, will have a lot more experience.
