  • Good for him, he has earned it.  While we have treaded water for most of his tenure, ECU has prospered; and what I like most is that most of their fans are actually POSITIVE about where they are and where they are headed.  We could use some of that positiveness.

  • Some very respected posters on this board who have moved away from this area have described WV's backwards thinking and defeatist mentality.  Going by those descriptions from people have experienced our area and other areas for comparison, I think our results on the field do come into play, but a lot of it is the culture of this area, and regardless of the amount of success we achieve, we still won't receive the amount of support and positive outlook as a group as many other similar institutions.

Thats because he was agressive in working the fan base and getting out and promoting ECU sports. The ECU Pres. was right behind him in this effort and it paid off. I will give him major props, he accomplished what he wanted - getting ECU into the BE. He elevated their program, built the fan and donor base by being extremely proactive, visible and COMMUNICATING! A concept lost on those around these parts.

  • He had a vision and a plan.  Although it did include facilities, the vision was a destination; not physical plant and operations. They are the tactics and the strategy played out; but the vision is a destination.  We need a vision that includes a well stated destination.  Quite frankly I have never believed we need a bunch of new facilities to compete with FIU, FAU, ODU, Charlotte, etc.  Our Vision campaign is fine, but I'd like to know where our "hairy audacious" destination is.  I sure hope it isn't the new Conference USA.
