  • As far as I'm concerned.....MU/Huntington should/has  to give him whatever he wants to KEEP him here.   Make him a head coach in waiting.  I don't care.  He has to stay here.

  • Jujuan and Tony are the most important coaches we have.  Seider is a great guy and I have to pull for him if he wants to be a head coach - and most assistants do - but this would be a HUGE loss for us.  He gives us everything he has.

Never...NEVER do that.  WVU proved how dumb of an idea that was.  You undermine everything by doing that.  Just offer him more money.  If he decides to move on to a HC job then I wish him the best of luck.

  • It has been proven over and over that the head coach in waiting does not work for several reasons.  If he leaves and the recruiting suffers then that proves we have the wrong head coach.

Every team including Alabama lose assitants each season and they continue to move forward.  You also have to be realistic because if you give him more than a reasonable amount the other coaches will have big issues.

  • That is great for JaJuan. I remember when Coach P would lose his asst. and we would worry.

There was always someone in the wings waiting that would fill the position and do well.

you do know that the 'head coach in waiting' has recruiting restrictions, so by making him that, the HCIW, we restrict what he does best. You did think of that didnt you?

No, I didn't because I didn't bring it up.  What are you talking about?  I didn't say anything about a HCIW.

  • Great news for Seider and our program.  While I hope he stays for awhile...it is better than having a staff that no one wants.

Agreed!  I love Seider, but if he gets an opportunity that he feels is better for him you have to be excited that he gets it.  And if Doc can get us a solid DC next season should be a pretty special year for us.  If that happens his job will be more secure and the assistant coaching pool gets better for us to choice from.  We should all be hoping next year is off the charts for us for a number of reasons.

After all he's known as being as good a recruiter as Seider. Why would FEMU  want to take a flier on an unknown quality in Seider when they can know what they're getting in Doc. 8)

  • So FAMU would be interested in hiring a young coach with very limited experience that has tutored only under a head coach that has never produced a winning regular season?  Sounds like a great plan.

I like his recruiting ability, but let's be honest.  The guy has exactly 3 years of college coaching experience all at the RB position, one of the easiest, and least involved, positions to coach.  If he could run a program it would be because he has some inate, inborn ability to do so because he certainly doesn't have any real world experience that would make you believe he could.

Maybe they want him because he is a former FAMU quarterback.

Yeah, that's kind of like wanting a guy to be CEO of McDonalds because he used to flip burgers for them and has spent the last three years recruiting other guys to flip burgers.  Granted, the burger flippers he brought in are really talented, but what in that makes you believe he can run the business?

Maybe you should tell Jim Skinner, McDonald's Vice Chairman and CEO that story and listen to what he will tell you.

Yep, he had 33 years experience with the company before he got the CEO gig.  Call me when a guy goes from burger flipper to CEO in 3 years.  I'm sure Mr. Skinner would be the first to tell you he wasn't ready to run the company in 1974 (3 years after he started) and that the additional 30 years of experience is what allowed him to lead.

  • JaJuan is a great young coach with terrific south Florida contacts and a great recruiter but he is not ready to be a head coach just yet.  Just be grateful that he's in Huntington for now and is responsible for recruiting some great athletes.  He will undoubtedly move on to a coordinator position in the future but for now, he's in the perfect place.
