wow I thought he did a pretty good job.  What's the count?  5 outa 10 off the top of my head (including S &C)  Somewhere the grass is greener, and it does not appear here, yet people plan on an at least 8 win season.  With 8 wins one would think Doc would get an extension.

  • Money talks. He also has strong ties to the Tennessee area.

  • Its all about $$$$. Marshall simply can't pay their assistants enough to keep them.

Or Doc has said "this is what I expect from you and our team next season and if you can't handle that then hit the bricks"

The disappointment of this past season leads me to believe that a lot of pressure was put on the assistants, especially the defense side of the ball.  I don't look at these changes as necessarily bad things.  Rippon was forced to resign.  Peterson clearly moved up as an OC.  The rest of them moved laterally at best and for not necessarily more money.  I think some of them knew they couldn't fulfill Doc's expectations with him on the hotseat and chose to find employment elsewhere.

This is all just speculation, but I'd like to think that Doc is fine-tuning his staff now that he has some experience at HC.  He's not gonna come out and say he took out the trash.  He likely helped some of these guys find employment elsewhere.  Anyone can see that Rippon wasn't the only problem with our team.

The other schools these guys are heading to are in the midst of paying exit and entrance fees.  And USM is broke.  I don't think they have the money to raise salaries over ours.  I think some of those guys are just lucky to still have a job in football.

  • Wade’s departure is the latest for Doc Holliday’s staff which has seen tremendous turnover this offseason.  Wade is the fourth coach to leave the staff, joining Chris Rippon (resigned), Tony Petersen (La. Tech), and Lytrel Pollard (Southern Miss).

  • at the risk of sounding harsh, so long as we can keep Seidner, I am only so upset at the defections...because we were 5-7. I liked having Peterson here as he was a link to our past, but in reality we served as a safe place for him to land while he was between opportunities.

  • How far is MTSU from Chattanooga?  Maybe he jumped on the opportunity to move back to Tenn.

  • This amount of turnover is never a good sign.  If all of this was Doc's idea, these coaches would have left soon after the season concluded rather than three weeks before the National Letter of Intent signing day.   :-[

  • How old is Wade? Does he have a family? If so, moving to Murfreesboro from Huntington is a no brainer. I have fond memories of Huntington, it was one of my favorite places to live but this is a different time.

So far I haven't seen any worth paying to keep.  5-7 teams regardless of how many numbers the QB and receivers can put up...In the end is still a 5-7 team........Sort of like the guy on the PGA that can out drive everyone but can't putt for crap and ends up not making the cut.  "BUT DAMN HAVE YOU SEEN HOW FAR HE HITS IT"

  • We had a very good offense.  MTSU and LATech coming into the conference, they want our guys to help them win and understand what we are doing on the O side of the ball. They want to beat us.  None of this is either surprising or disappointing to me.  If we could afford coaches from ECU and UCF we should have been after them too.
