opinions and a$$holes......we're gonna share in a lotta dough right where we are.....Cincy left CUSA once and they would again....you guys are like the runt who doesnt get picked choosing up teams. Whine, whine, whine. Get agrip and grow a set...you know, have some pride for Gawds sake. Like Meister has pointed out repeatedly, they dont want us. So I dont beg. Not how I roll..
1. Why do you and others keep commenting about if/when UConn and Cincy leave? That's peripheral. None of that matters. This is about just
keeping up with what we have... any time we would have Cincy and UConn in the league is a bonus.
2. Seems you were interested in the numbers... but now... oddly(?)... you're not so interested.
Humor me?
Our share of the $6.6 mil paid by the defectors will end up at about $5 mil. So, effectively, to stay behind, we're getting a $5 million bonus.
What could have been (or still could be?)...
Reportedly, each of the defectors were going to be paying out about $2.5 mil in entrance fees to the NECTBN (New Eastern Conf To Be Named). But now, it's reported that they may have their entrance fees waived, and additionally that they will each get about $3.5 mil from the Catholic 7. (By the way, those "unfortunate" athletic departments at Cincy, UConn and USF will "have to make-do" with $20-$25 million each.)
So, their net for leaving CUSA and keeping things basically as-is in addition to adding annual match-ups with Cincy, UConn, USF and Temple is just over $3 million... or essentially what CUSA schools reportedly made in ONE YEAR of their TV revenue in 2010 according to the AL.com analysis.
ONE... freakin... year.
Yeah, they're a SAAAAAAAD bunch, those defectors.
So, would I rather us be $5 million to the plus and stuck with competing in the bottom of Group of Five conferences?
Or would I rather us have to shell out about $3 million, but be able to expect at minimum twice the TV revenue and continue to play the competition we're used to playing plus Cincy/UConn for some period of time.
Short term, there's a $8 million difference... pay out $3 mil... versus take-in $5 mil... but project things over 10 years, and there's no comparison.
3. Hold up. Pride? You don't want to go there. You and others have lost yours. We are not so inferior to UCF, ECU et al that we cannot compete... yet, time and time again in these discussions, I've heard that the private funding dooms us to failure... even though, previous to all of this, the clarion call was always that we were getting as-good-if-not-better talent, but that our coaches keep failing at the coaching part of their job.
4. Reconsider your Alice in Wonderland schtick and your personal attack/condescension about being a man and all that... the need to resort to that sort of thing says you realize you can't make your rationale strong enough, so you default to silliness to hide the weaknesses of what you're saying. The reality is, though, that many if not most see through it.
5. "What we control" is still subject to debate. No, really, it is. As long as there continues to be no firm decisions made on the BCS revenue structure, there's still a chance for Kopp to use that leverage.
