That is one facility out of context. Bowling Green's facility was mostly privately donated and it is definitely an outlier for both their facilities and the rest of the MACs facilities.

P.S. We are in the middle of a 30 million dollar campaign for several facilities and have many academic buildings going up as well. Instead of complaining about what we don't have you should donate so that we do.

If that's the BOK Center, that's not Tulsa's home court. 

We're going to break ground in April on the what will be the ONLY indoor practice facility (which is actually A LOT more than just a practice facility) in CUSA 3.0.  I'm pretty sure only UCF and SMU have IPF's in the current version of CUSA.  As far as football goes, we're getting ready to completely lap the field in our conference.  This is the most significant development for us since the stadium was built, and we all know the success that the stadium brought.

Actually, I think the Cam arena itself is pretty darn good. It looks good, site lines are not bad at all and its cozy. Granted, I wish we would have built something like the Convo at OU but we are far from the worst.

Someone put out the idea months ago of bowling in the arena and putting in a wall of green glass on the Glaser's end.  It would update the look of the Cam and make it more modern.  But what we also need is to update the walkways and put in more concession areas.  It would take some cash but not as much as building a new arena. I like watching games at the Cam.

I think the outside of the Cam definitely needs some upgrades, as well as the concourse area. I think the inside of the arena is just fine. When the crowd gets into the game it can get really loud in there and definitely gives the Herd the upperhand.

Didn't they put the new seats in the Cam within the last 10 years? I think with the money they just put into the arena and with the recent upgrades, there is no way we build a new basketball arena.

I've been in the Bowling Green "arena." It is nothing but a glorified high school gym. Herdmeister is correct - 5,000.

I was on the campus of Liberty University this weekend, and although their stadium and arena are a lot smaller, they are nicer. The main thing that stuck out to me was the CLEANLINESS and NEATNESS of the athletic facilities, campus and the town of Lynchburg. That's something that is not at the top of the priority list around Marshall University, or the state of west Virginia for that matter.

I disagree, the Cam sucks.  Unless you sit in the bottom rows it is extremely hard to view the replay board.  We need a 4 sided board in the center like every other team in the country.

Hamrick has said he hates it and that will be the next project after the baseball stadium.  So we will probably not get a new arena for about 15 years.  I would love to see the city team up with Marshall and build something really nice to replace the Joan and Big red barn.

Penn, thats what should have been done but the ego's at MU and the city didnt want to compromise. If they had, we would lilkely had a first class facility that could be a source of pride and frequent events. But as usual, they all screwed the pooch.

I know it's been a few years since they renovated and built the custom lockerrooms, but I thought they did a very nice job.

It would be nice if they would at least knock out the east wall where the scoreboard is and build and run the stands up higher.

No. If you talk to Hamrick, however, he'll tell you that if money wasn't an object, he'd tear the place down by midnight tonight. He absolutely hates the place.

I consider us fortunate to have the facilities we do. The CAM was top notch when it was built; it does need some further renovations, but it is a great arena.  We had the center score board for a long time, it was pathetic as it block everyone's view of the rest of the arena. North from south, East from West, etc.

Can't expect us to expand anything that is never more than half full. 

Facilities aren't our problem IMHO, winning is.  And I would add to that Wednesday night games are also a problem for us.

BINGO!!!!!Amazing teams in the early 70's could be ranked 8th in the country in the Field House. 1999 football team can be ranked #10 in nation in the Joan. Excuses are getting really old. Go win some games. Tourney time. Good opportunity to step up.
