  • Spoken like a true Mountaineer fan..."we lost...they didn't beat us"...the p!ss-yeller-and-blew have never been defeated...essentially the same thing their baseball coach said after getting their @ss kicked...

  • Hey FlyHawk- That 3 for 20 in the first half doomed it for us. WL shot what 20 % under their normal % today? Many were were wide open shots early. Faulk didn't come alive until the second half either. Hausfeld played his heart out but couldn't throw anything but bricks today. Thats 4 years of 30 plus wins only to lose with a title in sight. very sad.

  • Hey Marcbuff...just got back from the game man. Been a long weekend and drive back.

Yeah we just got into to big of a hole at the start of the game. I would never question Crutchfield but in hindsight I do wish we would have taken a few early timeouts to try and calm the guys down.

It all came back to not taking care of the ball and poor passing. We were not passing the ball well today which forced our shooters to reset before shooting.

Metro St had a great game plan and their coach not only stayed with the game plan but he was also methodical. Anytime we started making a run, or it started going at our temp he would call a TO.

I truly think West Liberty had the better team and would win most games played against that team. That said, they obviously outplayed us today as they beat us.

This class finished 34-2 on the regular season and won 128 games in their career (most wins by any NCAA program over a 4 year span, any division.) Made the Elite 8 three times and made the Final 4 twice and made the Sweet 16 all four years.

Also, West Liberty has some great alumni. They paid for 2 charter buses and it was free to whoever wanted to go. Also when we went to buy tickets someone came to us (noticing our West Liberty gear.) The Alumni Association had bought tickets and were passing them out for free to all the West Liberty fans. There was 9 in our group and we watched the D2 Final 4 for free.

Proud of the team/program but need to get over the hump soon & lose 3 starters off this team. So if we make it back to the Elite 8 next year then I will consider it over-achieving just like last years team.

  • Wish the Hilltoppers would have won it, but that was a fun game to watch.  More fun than any of the D1 games so far, with the possible exception of watching FGCU.
