HUNTINGTON -- Marshall Thundering Herd tight end Gator Hoskins continues to produce touchdowns at an alarming rate.

And the ability to land in the end zone has landed Hoskins among some prestigious company on the national scale.

On Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that Hoskins was named as a semifinalist for the Mackey Award, given annually to the nation's top tight end.

"No. 1, he's become a great leader for us," Marshall head coach Doc Holliday said. "You listen to what he's had to say in the locker room after games and the way he's helped Devon Johnson prepare and that type of thing, but he's a good player. You talk all the time, (Tommy) Shuler kind of has that 'it' factor and he just finds a way to make plays. Gator is the same way.
