He reminds me a little of Jason Williams with his smooth ball handling skills. Maybe even a little like Ricky Rubio. At any rate, he's a 6'5" PG/SG that looks good on film. GO HERD!!!

  • This is already proving the worth of having an assistant with European connections. A lot of teams have made hay with international players.

Obviously, highlight films don't show the screw ups which could way outnumber the brilliant moments.  That last video was impressive.  As far as how sought after, who cares?  If DD thinks he is good enough and is not a serial felon, I say welcome aboard.

  • There is no Serbia and Montenegro anymore.  They've been two separate countries since 2006.

  • For those old enough to remember, the Kid reminds me
of Pistol Pete Maravitch (sp).  The passing alone will fill
the CAM. Just the style of player we need to trigger the
Herd fastbreak.  And being 6' 5" and can shoot fills out
the package.  Also reminds me of a smaller Larry Bird.
Retired 10 years early to follow Herd sports.
Those 10 years have been marvelous.

Also the hair - Pistol Pete -  He has good passing skills and seems to fit what DD wants in moving the ball fast (with a purpose)..  Long arms.........

I hope he's more like Pistol Pete than Sidd Finch

In early 1985, Mark Mulvoy, the managing editor of Sports Illustrated, asked George Plimpton to contribute an article about baseball.

Plimpton reported that Hayden Siddhartha[3] "Sidd" Finch was a rookie baseball pitcher in training with the New York Mets. He also wore only one shoe—a heavy hiker's boot—when pitching. Finch, who had never played baseball before, was attempting to decide between a sports career and one playing the French horn. What was astonishing about Finch was that he could pitch a fastball at an amazing 168 miles per hour (270 km/h), far above the record of a "mere" 103 miles per hour (166 km/h), with pinpoint accuracy, and without needing to warm up.[3] The Mets scouting report gave Finch a "9" on fastball velocity and control: "8" is the highest score on the scale.[2]

  • Well guys, I have to say that I am extremely excited for this new era of Marshall basketball. A mid major such as ourselves can really close the gap by finding good talent over seas.

  • He reminds me of Michael Jordan.  Also kinda like LeBron and Kobe.

Figured since Jason Williams, Ricky Rubio, Larry Bird, and Pete Maravich were taken I wouldn't include the obvious comparisons to their games.

  • Looks like a good player. Probably will need to get a bit quicker. A 6-5 point guard with a 6-10 wingspan who can shoot, pass & handle the ball could be a good thing. Bring on the Herd.

  • Pistol Pete is exacting who he reminded me of and it is funny as my brother and I lived outside Raleigh, NC and had an opportunity to play a pickup game with Pistol Pete in the summer of 69! He was the most impressive basketball player I have ever seen with an ability so fluid it was a wonder to watch! His Father... Press was head coach at NC State at the time! They left for LSU soon there after!

  • Perfect fit.  Need a true point guard and most of his tape they run the high pick and roll. Dantonis system.

  • I saw pistol Pete in person play in the Omni with the Hawks in '72 he threw one of the most incredible passes that I have ever seen.  Too bad his life ended so short.

  • After watching that video, I never knew that Pete was in such a dark place most of his adult life. I guess being in the spotlight practically your whole life can do that to you. After seeing his kids in the video, it seems like they are experiencing the same kind of feelings as their father did. I am sure it is not easy growing up with a famous parent and then losing that parent at such an early age. That is just what I noticed, it is kind of sad.

On a brighter note, I don't know if the word amazing is a good enough word to describe the type of basketball player Pistol Pete was. His court vision alone was incredible and then his shooting and passing on top of that is for lack of a better word amazing.

If this kid Nikolic is as good as he looks in his highlight videos, then we are in for a real treat. We have not seen passes like that around here since Jason Williams. I really hope that it is not the lack of talent from the opposition that makes this kid look so good.

I am looking forward to the future of Marshall basketball. I thing Dan is going to do some awesome things for Marshall basketball.
