  • What are the odds we keep Holiday?  He will have turned a program that was in shambles around in just a few short years. What's more, if WVU has another bad season, which they probably will, what are the odds they come calling Doc.

  • I'm just going to keep telling myself that Doc is happy being 15 minutes from home and isn't going anywhere.

Doc (luckily for us) has too much Kelly Green stink on him for the Eerdiots now.  I don't see him going back to Morgantown.

  • They'd never hire him...It would be an admission of a mistake.

Doc will be at a lower tier Sec or Acc or AAC  school next year.

Maybe even UCF after the liar retires.

We'll hire either  Seider or Heater to be head.

BTW, The Tigers and the Giants play in the World Series this year....

  • Worry about what we (fans) can control.

Funding, contributions, positive attitude toward the team and players.

So, we get what we want. An undefeated (or close) season and our coaches are desired by other schools with more resources. We make an effort or pledge more resources.

Or we trust Mike Hamrick has done what ALL Athletic Directors are taught, keep a short list in your top drawer of candidates and review regularly.

  • Hey, wonder what the chances he actually likes it here?  Just saying, I know a coach who's name starts with a P who stayed a decade (9 years I believe), several of those after being offered $1M per year elsewhere.

Winning is winning; money is money, and life is life.  Everyone seeks their own level among those three.

Yeah and we had to come up with a match of that offer or Pruett bolts for Houston.

  • Seider as head coach? You gotta be kidding.

If Doc leaves, Legg or Heater will be chosen.

If you think WVU would not hire Doc, you'd better think again.....and they'd come up with the money. The WV fans would love to have Doc back in Morganhole. With a pay raise of 4 or 5 times what he gets at Marshall, I would not and could not fault him.

There's more to it than the 15 minutes. Doc was shunned for many years and two WVU
head coaching vacancies. I don't think he will ever forget that. If the eer's come calling with 3 million though, Hamrick would have to be close in order to retain him. Remember, Doc advised Seider to go cause of the $$$$$$. I like Doc a lot, but money trumps loyalty, and no one could fault a man for financial gain. On the other hand should he choose to stay and retire here, his name could be etched among those we hold with high esteem.

  • Why would anybody wish that job on Doc is beyond me or anyone with a lick of sense! Doc has been on a National Championship Team and WVU is now in a conference that is not producing Champions like the SEC! They may never ever smell a championship again now that the ACC is reloading CUSA is looking like a good place to stay and continue to build a monster of The Thundering Herd!

  • herdplan 2 things: First money. 4-5 times what he gets at Marshall. Second, you are underestimating Doc. With his recruiting skills, he would tirn that program into a winner, just as he did at MU.

  • I love Doc at MU.  Great fit.  I like what he's done recruiting and discipline and building our roster.  But let's be real and look at the easing of schedule in and out of conference over his 4 years.  I think we have under achieved a bit every year.  Some of last years losses were bad.

I think Doc would recruit well anywhere.  I don't see him winning big at a power conference school where talent would be even or better at most teams he played.

Last year only three teams we played had equal or better talent we went 2-1 but still lost 4 games.  This year we will have better talent than every team we play.  Doc won't have that luxury at power 5 schools

  • I don't think he'll go anywhere soon. His biggest coaching job will come in 2015, we lose Cato, Shuler, Rouse and many others, not to mention likely Heater and Legg. If he stays after this year and then turns around and has another solid year in spite of those losses, then bigger schools will take notice and he'll be hired away. I just don't think he'll leave or be hired away after this year.
Yeah, he could bolt knowing what he faces in 2015 but it would have to be the PERFECT for him I think. jmo.

  • I am thinking Doc to Florida in 2016.  Let's just win all we can in the meantime and keep the pipeline full. Pruett looked like a genius for a few years because of what was left over from Donnan and then he developed his own brand of genius.

  • I think Doc will get a look from a low-mid power conference school, but he'll wait it out until a big one comes calling.
