  • So I'm reading that on the radio show last night Hamrick says they're close to announcing a new home and home game that will have people wondering how he pulled it off.

Sounds exciting. I wonder if it could be the Auburn game we had heard whispers of a few months ago?

  • boy oh boy , will this piss off all the Mounties if its Auburn, Bama or even Arkansas. A home and home with a " P5 " school, not just an also ran P5 school, but one who contends for playing for more than 6-6 every year.

  • Sounds exciting, but I'll believe it whenever "they" show up at the Joan.  How many of these "home & home" deals have turned into we go play them there first, then they buy us out and we scramble to replace them with a MAC or lower division school?

If true, give me a home & home against a close P5 school we have a better chance of beating, rather than someone like an Auburn, Ohio St, or Alabama. Getting a home & home against WVU, UK, Tenn or VT would get me more excited.

  • No matter who it is, I think Hamrick has done a great job in many ways. Listening and engaging with the fan base is one of the things I really like about him.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe anyone has bought out a game here. Louisville was moved to 2016 because of ND and Marcum let Tennessee and Miami out of the return game without a buyout. (Just amazing work there btw)

  • Sky blue thinking here......

Who does Doc know or coached with in the past that might just say...
    What the hell, let's just do a 1 - 1 with Marshall.

Would you like to see Urban Meyer's team in that 1 - 1?

Know it's probably a BIG stretch, but it would be great.   ;D

The Buckeyes in Huntington would make the 'eers really poop in their drawers.

You're so right about Kayo letting Tennessee and Miami out of the games without paying us. Even though Kayo let them out to downgrade our schedule, we still ended up having a losing record.
When you factor into the buyout, both teams would have paid us about a million dollars total. Damn, Kayo cost us in more ways than one..

  • Quickstrike is in need of a dog .

LOL.....it's not about being afraid, it's about increasing our chance of winning.

Getting a perennial NC contender to show up at the Joan would be a major happening for the program, probably be a sell-out, but most likely could also be a loss. if it is a team located far away from Huntington, then it lessens the chance of more Marshall fans going to the away game.

Give me a home & home against WVU, UK, Tenn or VT. We can beat those teams, we still probably sell out, and the away game is much closer for our fans to attend to support the team.

The way Doc is recruiting and building our program, We will have the talent to compete. I would put this year's team up against anyone in the country.

  • Hamrick said "they will all say how did they do that"? With this opponent. Heard Auburn, but im fairly sure it is an sec program based on the hear say. Thats the only conference that i would say "how did they d that".

  • Exciting times...I would be happy with Wake Forest or Duke.  If any SEC is scheduled to visit the Joan that is a major coup for Hamrick.  I don't care if it is a 3-1 deal.

  • Look at what Northern Illinois has been announcing this week.  They just announced home and home series with Tulsa, Vanderbilt and USF.

They also announced home and home series with San Diego State, Utah, BYU, Maryland and Boston College back in the summer.  They have some great series coming up.

Didn't know that. That is impressive. Is that area notorious for good HS football?

That is impressive.  Also, if NIU puts a good team on the field when they play these teams all are potentially winnable games for them.

I don't think Ohio St would want the Herd this year at either venue.
