  • Group of 5:

1-5 UConn at 5-1 and #18/17 ECU Thursday night 7PM ESPNU - We can only hope / Best shots for ECU to lose still look to be @Temple Nov 1, @Cincy Thurs Nov 13, or vs. UCF Thurs, Dec 4.

Looks like they serve beer at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium:

3-4 Wyoming at 6-1 Colorado State.  _Sturt_ has outlined some compelling arguments as to who to root for in the MWC to keep Col State out of the championship.  Have to be a conference champ to get to the Access Bowl.

These are the only two teams with one loss left and the only ones I personally am concerned about.  If we go undefeated and continue on the roll we are on, we should not have to worry about a two-loss team.  The 1999 team with wins like  28-16 over Kent State and 31-17 and 34-30 over WMU and a SOS of 111 finished #10 in the AP Poll.

Top 25 polls: We are currently # 23 in the AP / #22 in the Coaches -

    #27/26 5-2 OK State @ #22/25 5-2 WVU  Muskets vs. 6-guns shootout. Go Cowboys!
    3-4 Syracuse @ #21/20 5-2 Clemson
    #20/21 5-2 USC @ #19/19 6-1 Utah - Someone has to lose
    1-5 Uconn @ #18/17 5-1 ECU
    2-6 Iowa St. @ #17/18 5-2 Oklahoma
    5-2 Rutgers @ #16/16 6-1 Nebraska

We win, we should move up to #22/21 over USC or Utah.  #21/21 if WVU loses also.

  • Wyoming might beat Colorado State. They are somewhat decent.

ECU may come out flat after a bye week. well, just hoping.

  • Ya know my analogy that we're a 4-cylinder cruising down the road @ 55, and vulnerable to others in their 6-cylinders coming from behind and passing us?

    Let me add to it.

    You look beside you.

You see ECU in their 6 cylinder challenging us, and no one can be sure at the moment which one will get its nose in front of the other.

You see CSU swerving back and forth, waiting for their opening to come up to challenge.

Don't make the mistake of missing what's immediately behind them, because that other 6-cylinder could drive CSU off the road and accelerate in the last couple of weeks.

Like it or not, ignore them or not, Boise isn't just getting mentioned by yours truly.

  • I still see very little threat from the MWC...

    1) I like Boise's chances to win out in the MWC.  Their 2 road games are against the worst teams in their division and the 2 home games are against average teams.  That would keep CSU out of the MWC title game even if they're 11-1.

    2) I don't like CSU's chances to win out.  They will likely be underdogs at Air Force.

    3) I still like our chances at 13-0 over 12-1 CSU

    4) There are no quality wins left for Boise to pick up now that BYU has fallen off the map.  They have ZERO chance to get in over 13-0 Marshall.

  • Boise is not even close. Nor will they be with 2 losses.

CSU is closer behind us than ECU.

I think many may be surprised next Tuesday.

i think with ecu's defense, or lack there of, they're a potential upset victim every week. they gave up 24 to smu, and it wasn't all garbage points. in smu's 4 other games this year they've scored 0, 6, 6, 3. smu may be the worst team we've seen in fbs in a few years, and in the 4th quarter they were only down 11 in greenville.

I agree. ECU is one of the most overrated teams jn history. They barely beat USF. They will lose to any above average football team. UCF very well may beat them. As well as temple and cincy, who are both average but that is good enough to give them a shot.

  • Here is the way I see it....

If we keep winning and ECU- CSU keep winning, it will turn into a popularity contest. Who gets the most air time.

I believe that is what it will come down to. JMO
