  • Heart of Dallas, #17 MU versus # 16 WVU; battle of WV in the heart of Dallas the day after Christmas.  Wonder where we'd all be able to schedule flights, there enough seats going out of WV and the near airports to get us all to that game.

  • Oliver Luck would never let that happen. And if the Big 12 get this bowl the Heart of Dallas will most likely get Texas Tech or Oklahoma St. They want ppl to attend. If the Herd goes 13-0 and don't play in the Peach or Fiesta bowl I will not attend the HoD. If we go 12-1 I will gladly head to the big D.

So if we are undefeated and ranked maybe 12th in the nation you won't support the team, but if we lose a game and may be ranked 25th or just outside the polls, then you will? Smh..... the logic of some mystify me.

Anyway, i would definitely be in texas. Us vs WVU would be a nice game to attend and mean a lot to this state. Could you imagine us kicking there ass on national tv in a bowl? Haha. Would make my day, thats for sure.

  • It mystifies me that Marshall fans do not understand that Luck wants absolutely nothing to do with playing Marshall, nothing....

He is obsessed with proclaiming that they are the "flagship" university and will never do anything to jeopardize the ability to make that claim.

He has said publically that WV is too small for two D-1 schools.  (translation he wants our portion of state funding)

He made up ridiculous party lines like playing Marshall hurts their chances to win a National Championship, Playing Marshall hurts their strength of schedule (then he schedules Towson, Howard, Liberty), Playing Marshall is not more profitable as playing other schools and other nonsense...

But, the reality is they have won every game and they have a firm hold on the support of the majority of the state's population.   Losing to us would jeopardize those footholds.

It would also be devastating to their massive ego's, to his job security and most importantly it just might advance us in terms of new student applications or popular support and they will not stand for that....

They would never, ever consider playing us in a mid level bowl game...and Luck has assumed a leadership position in the Big 12...Within a year of joining the Big 12, he was speaking on behalf of the Big 12 on college football realignment...He's on the selection board....He's from Texas....He could easily make us or WVU not part of the Heart of Dallas bowl...

I will not attend a small time bowl if we are undefeated. Our guys deserve better and it's not right for them to have to play an exhibition against a lesser team when they would have earned an opportunity to play a major bowl game. It's just the principle of the matter.

However if we lose to UAB or the conference championship and end up in Dallas or wherever I will gladly attend because that would be what they have earned. But an undefeated season deserves a Peach or Fiesta bowl.

  • Agree Luck wants no part of Marshall this year. He knows what the results would be. They can say what they want but if WVU didn't hide this year, we would have had a Contract school on the schedule.

  • Yep... this press release explains it to some degree...

    http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2013/09/espn-regional-television-to-manage-heart-of-dallas-bowl/

Ok, the Big 12 still has a choice not to play in the HOD bowl...

    Quote
the Big 12 Conference announced that one of its member schools will be playing in either the Heart of Dallas Bowl presented by PlainsCapital Bank or the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl starting with the 2014 season.  The Big 12 Conference will supply a selection in five of the six seasons (2014-2019), and will be a primary back-up selection in one of the years.

Besides the Big 12 has 4 teams from the state of Texas, that would probably accept the bowl to allow their fans to be there at the game....

They really don't have a choice not to play if that's how it falls

  • I just don't see a game with 2 teams from West Virginia playing in Dallas being a huge draw. And with the way they have played the last two weeks vs the way we have played, I want no part of that.

  • We don't need WVU.  This undefeated season we are having is getting us a lot more national recognition than they are getting.  We are our own team.  We don't need them.
