HUNTINGTON — Marshall has been promoting Rakeem Cato for Heisman Trophy consideration.

Perhaps it should have been No. 47.

All Devon Johnson did on Saturday was rush for a school record 272 yards and four touchdowns to help Marshall survive its biggest scare of the season, defeating Conference USA foe Florida Atlantic 35-16 in front of 27,236 at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

Johnson, who was a backup tight end just three months ago, needed 69 yards entering the game to reach 1,000 for the season, and had that on his fourth carry of the game. His touchdown runs covered 58, 62, 66 and 7 yards, bringing plenty of admiration from his teammate.
