  • ... at 11 tonite that "Interim Pres. Farrell has appointed a 3 person screening committee consisting of Menis Ketchum(MU Board of Gov), Larry Tweel(MU Big Green) and Robert Bookwalter(MU faculty and NCAA Representative to begin the NATIONAL search for a new football coach."

So let me just ask it this way, and it IS a real question...

Tito, concerning your earlier report, what would you predict the odds are that the information you received about the alleged 4-year contract w/ Kueck was accurate and valid?

    100 to 1?

    50 to 1?

or, are you so sure of its accuracy that you'd say, still, 1 to 1?

  • I was told that "He has signed a 4 year contract"  The search could be a stunt to appease fans and the media.  All I know is that I was told that Kueck has the job.

  • I thought there were laws concerning the hiring practices of state employees.  I didn't think state employees could sign multi-year contracts.  I thought multi-year contracts were underwritten by booster clubs, such as the Big Green, etc.  Why would the Big Green act that quickly to offer a multi-year deal?

tito, I've been told the same thing ... Recruiting is a year round job anymore ... Everyday that "Interim" hangs over Coach Kueck's head is another day opposing schools can say dont take MU to seriously, because you don't know if the staff is going to be there.

After a strong recommendation from Coach Pruett, I'm hearing the "Interim" label is going to be lifted soon and Kueck will be our coach on a permanent basis.

  • I'm not sure what the point would be of signing Kueck to a contract so quickly in the first place... one assumes that these people didn't just fall off the coal truck... Kueck isn't going anywhere, so where's the mad rush to get the man signed to a contract? There's simply a lack of motive there that doesn't make sense.

  • If this is true, we have another good ol' boy case.  Coach Kueck could be one of the greatest coaches to come through Marshall.  Then again he could fall hard.  Only time will tell.  Me personally, I was looking forward to a new face.  But I think about the timing on Pruett's behalf.  2-day prior to spring and to have a coach come in for august practice and put in a new scheme is impossible.  So, Kueck slides in because 1. Pruett supports him and 2. He has them by the ball by knowing the players and the system.  So this wouldn't be a huge shock to the current program and players.  I would have to say that this rumor will come to reality.  I'll support Coach "K" if he gets the title...

  • He might have an employment contract that doesn't specify that he is the Head Coach.
