"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

  • Due to the timing of this game I am very glad that it will be televised on a station that can be picked up outside of the area. I really wish this would be moved back to January though.

  • Hey Meister, would 1st semester be over so Elmore cwould be eligible? We can beat em with Browning, Burks, Loop, Edmonds and Alex but I would like to clobber them. Imagine that.

The first semester will be over. From what I understand, the grades MUST be posted before he can play. Not sure of the timing there but I would expect to see him on the floor.

  • Last time I checked, first semester grades should be posted before the date of the game.

not only would those grades have to be posted, but we'd have to get everything verified through the ncaa based on those grades.

  • guess it wouldn't have to be the same but Tom Curry was a same type of deal and he was eligible for first game vs Karl Malone and LT but I don't know the date of that game. Curry did tally 14 points tho. Don't remember if the mailman delivered but I think they won the game.

  • I can't help but wonder if Danny's "stirring the pot" with Huggins after last year's tilt might not have made the ESPN brass take more of a liking to this game.

Malone had a good game.  Herd kept it close for awhile but can't remember final score (I'm sure Woody could dig it up). I was fortunate enough to be one of the students shuttling teams back and forth to hotel.  Got to meet Malone, sit in on practice etc.  LT was ranked in top 5 I believe.  They eventually lost a heartbreaker to Waymon Tisdale and Oklahoma when Tisdale hit a shot that rolled all the away around rim slowly and then dropped through at buzzer.  I think LT finished like 28-3

They won the game but Curries first bucket was a feed down in the post and he turned and dunked on Malone. The Cam went nuts! That's when we had 8K a game in the place.

Remember it well and the mailman was the real deal. What an exciting matchup that was.

  • Still can't quite fathom Gay Elmore's kid in a Herd uniform after that hate.

But, much stranger things have happened.
