HUNTINGTON — For those who have watched — and marveled at — Tyler Williams’ punting for four years, you may notice something new about his technique. He handles coffin-corner punts differently these days. After taking the snap, he points the nose of the football straight down, and the ball flies end-over-end to its target. If the ball hits the turf the right way, it will bounce straight up, go backward or simply stick like a pro golfer’s wedge shot. That didn’t happen Saturday at Kent State, but it could have. Instead, punt returner Ernest Calhoun took a fair catch on the best candidates, even doing so at his 6-, 7- and 10-yard lines.
