  • I wasn't a fan of his from the beginning and his actions in the SB didn't give me a favorable opinion of him. Walking out of a press conference isn't a way to win fans. He was very pouty at the end of the game. Didn't handle it with class at all. Handled it like a high school kid. Sort of the way he acts in the regular season.

  • Von Miller and D. Ware was his kryptonite. Why did he not jump on that last fumble? ??? He showed no class in the press conference unlike Peyton. Of course I was pulling for Peyton because I was living in Knoxville when he was QB for Tennessee. He showed class back then when he decided to forgo the NFL and come back for his senior season.

  • I am no Cam Newton fan but he did have a right to complain about the officiating. The absolute worst officiated Super Bowl that I can remember.

The thing that may haunt Newton the most is not trying to recover his own fumble in the fourth quarter. His team still had a chance to win the game and he made no attempt to recover the ball. I will now refer to him as "Candyass Cam".

  • Was really surprised he didn't go for the fumble when he had the chance.  He had a good chance to recover.  He is still a young player and has a lot to learn and sure he was very disappointed in his performance.

On another note...does anyone remember Demarcus Ware playing here against the Herd when he was with Troy?...I think it was 10 years or so ago.

  • Just found the statistics from the game that Damarus Ware played in Huntington...Sept 4th 2004.  He had 3 sacks, 4.5 tackles for lose and two forced fumbles.  Pretty good stat line.  I remember we couldn't block him.  We lost 17-15 and Stan Hill was sacked 8 times.

the only bad/questionable call was the review of the completed pass, but other than that in the millions of tweets, news stories, etc out there the officiating hasn't even been brought up that i've seen.

  • Look at what a lot of Bronco players had to say about Cam,

Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan basically called Newton selfish. "That's the way he is. Playing for himself," Trevathan told MMQB.com.

Broncos defensive back Aqib Talib agreed, saying, "He didn't want it."

No one was celebrating Newton's downfall more than Talib after the game.

"There ain't no Easter Bunny, there ain't no Santa Claus, there ain't no Superman," Talib told the Broncos' official website.

In a separate interview with a Canadian television station, Talib said Newton was probably tearing up in his press conference.

"Cam's probably crying right now," Talib said, via TSN.com.

  • I like Newton.  He will get better.  Manning didn't play great either, but Bronco defense was dominant and was the difference in the game.  Happy Manning got to out a winner.  Newton will probably have other opportunities, as a team however, they just made too many mistakes.  Overall, it was kind of an ugly game to watch.  I thought halftime show was better than I expected

  • The first half bored me silly.  I went to bed.  I have never been a Cam Newton fan.  I remember all of those allocations about  wrong  doings when he got into Auburn.  I am glad he got spanked last night.  Even though he wasn't great I am glad the old pro went out a winner.

In the next 2 games Stan got knocked around by Ohio State and Georgia. Stan never came back all the way from that gauntlet.

Two years prior, when the Herd traveled to Troy, their defensive ends were DeMarcus Ware on one side and Osi Umenyiora on the other.

Only 2 sacks for Troy on that day, however.

  • Carolina Coach Rivera (and others) are right...

Sure, Denver's D was exceptional, but so was Carolina's, but for one crucial difference: Denver made Newton turn the ball over, and Carolina didn't have the same success against Manning.

Cam Newton lost this game. Rivera uses the "we" vocabulary in talking about it, but no one is fooled... more accurately, it was one player.

I have no problems with beating him up about it, either b/c we all know that beyond the routine "we win as a team" rhetoric he would cackle, he's been all too eager this season to make sure everyone's attention was focused on him by his actions.

And on second thought, I'm sad that he's not a better man than that... a lot of people--and of course, kids in particular--began looking up to him.

Arguably his WORST fumble was this THIRD one after the game was over, ie, the lost respect he's earned as a result of his post-game behavior. I can think of few NFL QBs who would have handled that moment as pathetically... Manziel, probably, but that might be the only one.

cam didn't have a good game, but oher and remmers were just absolutely abused and manhandled.

Same could be said for the other side.

Two fumbles leading to two TDs. That's your game. Otherwise, it's 10-10.

Every hour that we get beyond last night's debacle that Cam Newton fails to man-up and take responsibility, is another hour of lost opportunity to capture all that he can possibly preserve at this point, and that is... respect.

Actually, I'm a huge Peyton Manning fan. Most of us in Tennessee are. I don't bet nor do I care for Carolina but I did want to see a good game. The worst no-calls were Talib being 2 yards in the Carolina backfield before the snap on the missed field goal and the numerous holding/interference on Ginn. I did watch the game with some Carolina fans that pointed those things out, and after watching the replays, I had to agree with them.

If the ball moves without control it's incomplete. That's how it works now. I understand it.  I don't know why people act like it's so confusing.

with two poor blocking jobs done by each tackle.

cam definitely needs better pocket presence, which is why some question if he's an elite quarterback (he's no doubt an elite athlete playing qb at this point), but his tackles got beat by drums last night. on the first fumble it was two seconds or so before miller hit him, the late fumble wasn't much better. miller just blew by oher and remmer on those two plays.

if you understand it and it's simple, you might want to write all nfl owners, coaches, players, and officials, because it's the most confusing rule arguably in sports. the fact that you had a couple former nfl officials stating they thought it was a catch, only for it to be ruled not a catch by the game official shows it's not as cut and dry as you're trying to make it.

  • Okay. But ultimately, it's up to him and to Manning to not lose the ball in those situations, and especially deep in their own territory.

And again to my most major point... it's that third fumble that virtually no other QB in the NFL commits. That's the problem on Monday morning that he still has an opportunity to do something about.
