  • There are many people who make game day Saturday's a near all-day affair. I don't think it is too much to ask to upgrade the food situation if they take the draconian step of allowing no pass outs, who are we WVU? If there is adequate food & beverage options and adequate concourse area the sting of no pass outs would be lessened considerably. I have never stayed for halftime and almost always return, I enjoy a cold beverage & snack between halves, which isn't that rare. Every MAC stadium I've been to recently has had better food & drink options than us.

  • I'm all for beer and no pass outs but you can have beer and still allow pass outs. I'm ok with that but I believr beer needs to be sold. They are making this too difficult. Have beer sales and see what it does to people leaving at half. If more people stay then keep it the same. If beer sales lag and people leave then institute the no pass out rule.

Same here. I dropped by the BG office, and told me they just installed new software, which may not have pulled down all the emails from the profiles. So contact them, and they'll manually record your email address

  • West Lot is too convenient for well healed fans.  West Lot should be a fun event/vendor area for all gameday fans.

The tailgate is an event for my crew. We have lots of great food and booze, so that's why I say there is a need to improve upon the "low-grade dog food" (Caddyshack reference) served inside the stadium

  • Spot on.  There has to be something done with the food if they want to do this right.  And please for the love of it don't just do it for the sake of doing it.  Implement only when all things are considered with food being the most important.  If you can't get the policy organized before this season starts then don't do it.  Start it in 2017.

When it comes to the food options, Wolf, doesn't it have to do with the fact that MU has a campus wide contract (school cafes, Edwards Stadium, the Cam, etc.) with Sodexho?  I mean, if this firm has exclusively cornered the market on campus food, does Hamrick or the athletic department have any options?  How many years does the current deal with Sodexho run?  Were there any other major vending services competing with Sodexho when they got the contract?  Would it make any sense for the University to divide the food services contracts?  One for the athletic venues and one for the rest of campus.  How do other comparable MAC and CUSA schools bid out their athletic food services?  Was somewhat pleased with the quality/variety of concessions available down at UNCC's new football stadium when at the Herd game there.

  • Herdfans folks I have met are very generous and awesome, but we have some really, really cheap fans. We're only going to sell a few $7 beers and they are still going to run to the parking lot at half. Not that I mind if we sell beer.  I don't at all. Just do it and move on to the next thing.

  • We won't sell enough beer to make it worthwhile to disrupt the fanbase and piss people off.   We'd be lucky to profit $100K per year.

  • I could be wrong but is there a chance of legal consequences by allowing pass outs?  Say someone gets smashed at half, comes back in and buys a beer from the stadium, then has an incident either in the stadium or on the way home.

Could MU be responsible for their actions because of selling the beer?

Funny how people that had season tix for years were forced to move and everyone on here told them to suck it up, it's good for the program. Now people get upset because they possibly can't leave at halftime? Let's consider what's best for the program.

I don't know if the Sodexho contracts everything because there are what appears to be some non-Sodexho vendors.  Behind my section there is someone selling sandwiches like Cheesesteaks.  Then there is those that sell Kettle Korn as well as frozen lemonade.  Maybe they work with Sodexho to have the ability to sell at the stadium and arena.  If that is the case then we should work with Sodexho to get more vendors as well as get Sodexho to offer more selections.  They do have more than popcorn and hot dogs in the Dorms.

It isn't hard.  I believe UK has ARAMARK as their vendor but they have many selections of food at Commonwealth Stadium.  I am sure Mike and the Athletic Department are looking at many options to improve the football game experience along with Beer Sales.

Except a majority of the other 14 or so thousand season ticket holders ARE the 3,000 BG members as most members/org have multiple season tickets

    Agree 100%

Also in the old days (when food was the same) they had vendors in stands with popcorn, cotton candy etc.  They should do that again with some additional items like water, pop, beer, peanuts.  Bet they could have made a substantial amount more money if they did that at Purdue game just for water....and stop selling beer at end of 3rd qtr should be easy enough to do.  Heck, even if the vendors only come out during TV timeouts it should be plenty enough time to get the goods in hands of people in stands...especially those far away from concession areas who don't want to miss game standing in line.

  • Having no pass outs will piss some off but they will get over it in a couple seasons. Once it's the norm it won't be a big deal anymore. Fans will come expecting to stay for the game and not just to go party. Maybe it will get more fans to tailgate before the game instead of during the game

In the political realm, they would call this process "providing cover".

Selling beer/not selling beer is a controversial subject.  Doing polls allows the Herd Administration to toss up their hands and say, "Hey, we know it was a controversial move, but the results of the polls were overwhelmingly in favor.  We're just doing what our fans want us to do."

  • The theory of no pass outs leading to more people staying at the games is flawed. You will see no change because people will still leave & tailgate etc, it just hurts the people who actually decide to come back in. The only reason for not allowing you to come back in is to sell more beer/concessions which is fine, just upgrade the concourse and the menu and I will get over it pretty quick.

  • I am 100% for selling beer inside the stadium, but will echo everyone else the food quality,# of vendors, and concourse area must be upgraded significantly if they are going to not allow pass outs.  For games when we are only averaging 20-25K the current concourse area is adequate, but when we have 30k+ it doesn't even feel safe.

The problem is where do you expand to?  Plus there will still be a bottle neck between the elevators going up to the sky boxes and on the ends of the stadium.
