Topic: UAB Writer Chastises Poor Attendance And Bracket Pundits

This UAB beat writer let's the fans know that they aren't being supportive of a special UAB team and gives a hard time to those who downplay UAB's chances in the Big Dance.  He believes a "Sweet 16" placement for the Blazers is not out of the question.

The writer, Kevin Scarbinsky, states:  "Apply the eye test, and it's Visine-clear that Jerod Haase has developed an NCAA Tournament team with the ability to get to the Sweet 16 weekend. Last year, the Big Dance victory over Iowa State was considered an upset. The next time this team survives and advances, no one should be surprised."

He is spot on. That is a damn good team. They are capable of getting to the second weekend. It's crazy to think that Marshall might have the same opportunity.

No reason why we couldn't be in that same position.  This guy is counting a lot of chickens before the eggs have even been laid.  They lose in the tourney and they don't even make the NCAA, just like all the rest of us.  If we were a 2-3 bid league then sure, talk about them in the tourney.  I'd like to shut their fans up with an assbeating in the tournament.  They're starting to get pretty cocky over a few points difference between our teams and a LOT of help from the stripes.

That's not at all what he's doing. In fact, exactly the opposite. He's recognizing that we won't be in the NCAAs unless we win the C-USA tournament. He's lamenting the fact that our weak SOS won't get an at large no matter how good we play.

I think Joey Brackets has UAB as a No. 15 seed, so the experts haven't been that impressed with UAB's or CUSA's strength of schedule either.  Maybe if CUSA teams had some games televised on real network schedules, basketball "experts" would have an easier time evaluating talent in the conference.
