  • easier this morning.  Last night was on of the toughest Herd losses in hoops that I can remember. In fact it may have been toughest of all times, and I did lose sleep over this one.  I tossed and turned all night.  The only saving grace was I didn't have to get up this morning and go to work.  Hand it to La Tech a they had well crafted game plan that they executed.  Too many they are the best team in the league.  I think they are better than UAB.  I am still at a loss to explain how North Texas beat them.  They used their athleticism to take the ball to the basket and get fouled and they were very good from the line.  I am still miffed that we outscored them in the paint. It seemed like they were shooting layups all night.  I agree with coach when he made the comment about no one stepping up and taking the charge.  The only was from a kid who is playing on basically one leg.  Fellows we have a truly good person as our coach.  I thought the way he handled the heart wrenching loss was commendable.  By going up to the kid and congratulating him for making that shot speaks volumes for the type of teacher we have working with our players.  I think the sun came up this morning.  I am not quite sure, it is snowing.

well said, just a couple things i've thought about to keep my sanity in the last 12 hours...

    1) we were picked 9th in this conference, a win at home saturday we finish no worse than 4th.
    2) had you asked me in december i would've said we would be lucky to win 10 games.

being picked 9th in conference, being gawd awful in december, here we sit 11-6 in conference, 4 of the 6 losses have been by 4 points or less, all 6 have been by 10 points or less.

    we're going to be okay.

  • Good points iherdya.  We also got some exposure.  I was in bar in Scottsdale AZ when our loss/highlights hit screen.

  • No doubt Kelly is going to missed big time, but I expect the whole team will take a big leap forward next year.  Depth should no longer be an issue.   Players actually get better under DD's coaching.  It is going to be fun.

You nailed it. I think Right Stuff will agree with you too. His loss will be made up by returning players stepping up along with recruits coming in.

  • Two things caught my eye last night and I am hope I wasn't the only one that saw it.  For one Erik McCree (#2) for LA Tech fouled out of the game.  Usually players pout about the foul call after it happened but what he did next surprised me.  After he was called for his final foul he went over to Dantoni and shook his hand in respect.  Out of all my years watching hoops I have never seen that so Mr. McCree you gained a fan from last night with your actions.  Second after the game James Kelley was clearly upset with the loss.  Went straight back to the locker room with his head down in disappointment.  A little kid was going to give him a high five and Kelly stopped and gave the kid his headband and the kid was real excited.

AND - we still have more to play - that game last night was hard fought - BUT - it was NOT A TOURNAMENT GAME and we are still alive..................................................................................

  • I believe if we are seeded #4  we will play  - Old Dominion

If we are seeded #3  we will play either - UTEP  or  Charlotte

  • Plus their coach on the post game press conference was very complimentary toward our players and coaches.  If we can't win the thing I would like to see them get it especially over UAB.

Amen to that.  The UAB fans on the CUSA sight have morphed into the worst of the Memphis fans' attitudes, w/ out the titles, all Americans and tourney wins.
