  • I am tired of all the mostly liberal and anti-capitalistic rhetoric coming from so many colleges and their profs to the point that I am very reluctant to ever provide a donation. However, I may be more willing if each university had it's entire faculty/staff sign such a pledge and wanted to know how others feel.
"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

  • Pledge as part of question of poll: "no politics in classroom"

  • Thx... overlooked the poll.

Not sure it's realistic to expect no politics. But not too much to expect pledge that multiple perspectives will be presented as any given topic arises. Not at all.

  • I never discuss politics in my classes.  My opinions are my opinions and I don't try to persuade anyone to agree with me or influence their thought in that manner.  College classes are for learning subject matter and skills, not reeducation camps.
"On rainy days, the early justices would enliven case conferences with wine. On other days, even if the sun was shining, Chief Justice John Marshall would order wine anyway, saying, 'Our jurisdiction is so vast that it must be raining somewhere.' "

  • I think it should always be about teaching the curriculum/subject that the students signed up for and not interjecting political views or use political rhetoric to weave into the discussion. I don't care which side you stand on. I don't feel it should come up in a class unless the student brings it up or unless the curriculum requires it. (K-12 and beyond) Just my 2 cents.

Not sure if a pledge would make a difference. Unless there's a threat of legal ramifications or reprimand from the institutions I don't see what a pledge would accomplish.
