Marshall scoop: We hear Marshall will announce tomorrow at 11am that Ohio State defensive Coordinator Mark Snyder will be their new head coach

  • I know he can coach defense, but does anyone know what kind of offensive philosophy Snyder has?  Does he like to run the ball or throw it around?

  • Only guessing, but having spent as much time with Tressel, he may be on the conservative side. Only a guess.

  • Careful guys... HerdRumors had it that Pruett would unretire yesterday morning at a 10:30 am press conference... don't get too consumed when it's this early.

Anyway, Mark Snyder would be a great choice.
He would probably keep things the way they are.
That means keeping Kueck as OC
    IT'S TAILGATING SEASON!

  • Do you think Kueck would want to stick around?  Don't you think Kueck would feel bitter?  I have no idea myself, I'm just asking. I would think that most guys would want to separate from the old staff.  There might be a few holdovers, but if Snyder is hired I would think Kueck would feel betrayed and move on.  I'm sure Snyder has a list of potential staff candidates.  If he is as prepared as I think he is he probably has a staff in mind as we speak.

  • Believe me, I realize defense wins championships.  I was just curious as to how some of these offensive recruits would fit into his system.  I loved watching us throw the ball around, but if we can win pounding the rock I'm behind it.  Whatever it takes.

Kueck never stays anywhere long. Take a look at his Coaching record. His stint in S. Miss was his longest run.

  • I would think the 'best' scenerio, if the Snyder rumor is true, would be for him to keep as many of the current assistants as he can for continuity, and because it will be tough to get quality assistants this late in the year (most are starting spring practice this week or next).

After next season, he can do what he wants.

I'm generally inclined to agree.  But last year, we had an AWESOME defense . . . and . . . well . . . um, no championship.

  • If this is true I have optimism for next season again .  I think Snyder, and what he has learned in the Big 10 would help him tremendously def and off. and I think he may be able to get an off. co-ord down here from the Big 10 that has ties or doesn't have ties with Marshall, if Kueck doesnt stay.

We also had an anemic offence. With that D-, you have to have some Assemblance of an offence.

  • Again, tempering these remarks b/c, thus far, no one knows how credible the site is...

Thinking in terms of recruiting, one of the great advantages of being the southern-most MAC school always was the recruiting fields that we could reach that others couldn't... as it was being the northern-most SoCon school... and with Snyder, you might have the same kind of scenario... the potential to assemble recruits that would ordinarily make up a MAC all-star team, but who would rather play in southern cities.

    Just a thought.

  • One of the best OC's in the Big 10 is Peterson.  I don't think we can afford that kind of hire.  Moreover, he probably would not come after the snub as HC.  Kueck, if not too bitter, would work out fine.

    GO THUNDERINGHERD!

Peterson's time is coming, I think if I was a SunBelt or higher I-AA school, he would be one of my top 3 choices. I don't see him as an OC long. No longer than 1-2 more yrs, someone will give him a chance at a HC job.
