While there is still a slight chance I’ll vote for Justice tomorrow, I’m strongly leaning towards Goodwin. Your argument doesn’t make much sense to me.
If I was truly convinced Justice was a strong Marshall guy that would almost guarantee I’d vote for him. However I have a home in Pendleton County and condo in Pocahontas County. Getting the local papers in both counties I’m very subjected to Greenbrier County news and the promotions from the Greenbrier Resort. The guy promotes WVU more than he does Marshall. So he loses on that issue in my book. The past behavior shows he’s a supporter of both schools, but probably more of a WVU guy than a Marshall guy.
Second we had an extensive discussion on the guy’s business practices on this board some months ago. The general take away from the discussion on the board was Mr. Justice used his wealth and power to avoid paying less powerful people what they were due. He also fails to pay his taxes, again using his wealth and power to his advantage and the disadvantage of the rest of the population. I doubt such a long practice of abuse of power and authority is suddenly going to disappear by giving the guy more power and authority.
Finally I find his Jobs, Jobs, Jobs…promise to be misleading at best. In the winter I work part time at a ski resort. Over the last few years the resort has moved from hiring Americans to using various programs that allows them (legally) to bring in foreigners from all over the world. While they use several different programs one of the programs allows people from other countries to stay in America and work for a full year. I was talking with a Philippine woman who told me most of them were going to the Greenbrier when the ski resort closed for the season. So while Justice is talking about the jobs he creates at the Greenbrier, he isn’t talking about the fact he not only isn’t giving those jobs to West Virginians, he isn’t even giving them to Americans.
So no thank you. I won’t be voting for Jim Justice tomorrow.
