Only downside might be that Chuck might have balanced the reporting of MU vs. You know WHO.

My guess is smock gets editor and Redd gets reassigned to the Herd. At least that is what I hope.

I think that McGill is a great scribe and a fitting, tremendous hire...only downside, it appears that the Herd Insider is going to be a monthly instead of a weekly.

Great get for the Herd!! Always thought McGill has been very, very even-handed in his coverage of MU sports! Goes without saying that Jack Bogaczyk was irreplaceable at MU/HERD INSIDER but this is the possible replacement that Mike Hamrick could get.

Just hope you are right about Doug Smock and Redd. Believe Mitch Vingle was already the Gazette sports editor when Charleston papers merged. He had seniority then over McGill and perhaps he likes the freedom of just being a senior columnist with a lot of freedom to write on whatever sports subjects he chooses. Of course, he may take the editor's position again for economic reasons. But then, too, there are a lot of other duties, functions, etc., in being a supervisor, department head, etc., that Mitch may not want to deal with. He may just want to write columns as he is doing now at rate of 5 or so a week.
