  • My son, MU grad, big Marshall fan, leaves tomorrow for Tampa as he accepted a new job and initial training is there. He is driving, long drive, request prayers for safe trip. This may not be appropriate forum, but, any support appreciated. Just a dad wanting his son to be safe.
After training will relocate out of state. Anyone that has seen their kids relocate may understand the thoughts of not being near your kids as they move on.

  • As someone who has moved off, I understand somewhat. Now that I have a kid of my own, I could literally cry at the thought of her moving off.

Prayers for you and your family.

The good news is that with todays technology we are never really THAT far away.

I think of the days just a 100 years ago where people truly said goodbye (possibly for forever) to a loved on who moved away.

  • Congrats to your son and prayers for him.  My oldest takes his first college visit tomorrow at MARSHALL.  Such a proud moment when he came to his dad and I and said he wanted to take a college visit there.  In Herd Contry for that and my youngest is going to the Little Herd Camp this week.  Luv being home.  I am so not ready for this college thing.  You blink and they are grown up.  Congrats again to your son!!!  Prayers for safe travel and great success!!

  • Atlanta driving is the biggest worry for me. Saw the aftermath of a rolled SUV on the N. side, killing a lady. 70 MPH bumper to bumper, never seen anything like it.

And we lost a Tallahassee recruit on his way to the Emerald City for the first time there some years ago.

    Prayers go out to all.

    P2M,

Know you mean well, but to a father who,is worrying about a child, your horror stories do not help.

Atlanta can be tuff, but take your time, drive defensively and give the other folks a lot of room.

A lot depends on time of day and rush hour. Going through on Saturday or Sunday is better than weekday.

Hope your son texts you at Florida - Georgia welcome center saying made it fine, orange juice great!!!
