  • Unless something has changed I traditionally get the worst cellular signal known to man in the Joan and zero wifi, with AT&T.  Maybe some carriers are better, more local, to the stadium.

  • It depends on the amount of people in the stadium. I'm sure there's only one tower near by and it gets overwhelmed with 30,000 people trying to get service.

No, pretty sure I'd show more than half of one bar (flickers between 1 and zero bars) if the tower was busy.  Just plain don't get a signal inside the Faraday Cage.

What service do you have? I have AT&T and usually have bars, it's just that my messages take forever to go through.

Yeah different services seem to do better in different venues.  I usually sit pretty close to the field, too, so being deeper in the stadium might have something to do with it.

But to answer the OP's question, there most definitely is not wi-fi in the stadium available for use by the masses.

not how it works.  You can show full bars and still not be able to do anything with your phone, which is what happens with AT&T in the stadium.  Think of it this way, you want to walk across 5th Avenue to Steak Escape, you can see it right there clear as day, but traffic is so heavy you can't get to it.  The door is there, there's just 20,000 people trying to get through it all at the same time.

Sprint and Verizon seem to do better in the stadium, but I think that has to do with lower market share than better infrastructure.  I would say at least 70% of the people in the stadium have AT&T.

But that is how it works as I'm telling you my AT&T iphone gets crappy reception in the stadium with 1 or no bars, regardless of the load on the tower.   I understand it can be jammed up as well, but that isn't what I was talking about.  I said bad signal, for me, and no wi-fi available.   I understand fully that even those AT&T customers with full service available may still have problems due to the large load on the system, but that is completely irrelevant to my original post.  In my case if it was only the busy tower I would still show a strong signal if I could get one.  I just couldn't use it to send and receive information.

Yeah, but not available to the masses.  You must be a student or faculty?
