  • He made his choice. We will be fine without him. If in-state kids don't want to play for us there will be a long line of out-of-state kids just waiting for the chance.

It would be cool if in-state kids came to Marshall, but no worries as Doc will land kids just as good or better. We did land Stewart so that's a great get

  • esp at LB where we are absolutely loaded and maybe could have influenced his decision esp if we continue with the 4-2-5. Hernandez, Hancock, Couch and Grimes not to mention the 4 big studs. Almost forgot Huskey.

We keep winning and eventually we won't be losing in-state kids.

I think it comes down to playing for a P-5 conference, as opposed to playing at a G-5 school.  Great athletes want to compete against the best. Let's face it, if you were an athlete and had a chance to play against Clemson, Florida State, Alabama, etc.. you would take the offer in a heartbeat. It's kinda hard to get up for FIU, Charlotte, Fl.Atlantic, etc.. even as a fan it's hard for me to get excited about playing those schools.

We're talking about the majority of athletes. Hey, don't get it twisted, I'm very happy to have 3-4-5 stars playing here,  :)

  • E-man, Marshall has as good of athletes as the lower half of the p5 schools. For example, I fully believe we would finish in the top half of the ACC. We could beat or be very competitive with Northwestern, Ill, Ind, Minn, Md, Ritgers of the Big. I'm not sold on your argument. MOST of our 2016 recruiting class had p5 offers.

  • I know we get good recruits , but keeping some our in state kids to play for 1 of the 2  state schools
would be great. No problems with there. I hope we put a hurt on Louisville this year.

  • Or maybe the young man wanted to be away from home.  He visited the campus and liked both it and Louisville.  Not every kid wants to stay in West Virginia.

Both Yulee and Gaines had eligibility concerns. That makes a big difference come Feb.

It's no argument my friend. I was making a statement about most athletes want to play at the very top. You're right about us being able to compete with Ill, Md, etc..
and on a rare occasion, we can go up against Alabama,  ;D

This may be a big factor as well. By choosing a school fairly close his family can still attend his games and he gets to live big city with many opportunities and activities.

  • I agree...some just want to get away.  I'd be more concerned if all of these guys were going to WVU....but they are not.  Goes all the way back to Curt Warner. I also wouldn't be surprised if one or more ends up back in state for a variety of reasons.  Also remember it's a long way to signing day and none of these guys have started their SR year.

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS
