  • One of coach Mike Leach famous quotes....

Everybody's all surprised every time this stuff happens. It surprises me everybody gets surprised, because it happens every year like this that there are surprises. The most surprising thing would be if there weren't any surprises. So therefore, in the final analysis, none of it's really that surprising."

I think for many it is not that surprising......it is mostly disappointing.

  • A am no longer surprised.  I had hoped Doc would grow into the job, but it is not happening and reality has set in.

  • I'd say more discouraging.

    Still, it's early...things change.

Imagine if they gave out the Heisman trophy in September...instead of at the end of the season...how many people would've won it, who finished distant in the real time it was given?

I'm going to continue to have faith in this team. If we lose, alright, we lose. It sucks, no doubt, but I won't give up on the Herd. I can't speak for all of you.
I was watching the game with several seasoned Herd fans at the local watering hole. Half the crowd left to go home at halftime citing, "I don't wanna watch this anymore" because we were down.
    I didn't leave.
    I stayed.
I wished the outcome were better, I'm sure we all do, but our offense began to click, our defense did struggle still, but I am confident in our team.
If we have a losing season this year, alright, so, we'll be in the same camp as several others (many of whom, spent more money than we did and won 4 games a season).

I do pose one honest question though...

Did the error of Snyder and Marcum really diminish expectations and hope for the program THAT badly?

Hell, even Hamrick had people pessimistic about the IPF and raising funds, to the point many were even critical of him "thinking about something so grand."

It's like ANY direction Marshall takes, is followed up with pessimism, enormous amounts of it as well.
