  • good news.

broadly concerning access to visual entertainment.  internet access is a must for all members in my household as it is for most folks.  i can almost cut DirecTV (cable for some of you, i'm sure).  point is, if i could view (and i might be really ignorant) all Herd sports i want without satellite or cable i would in a heartbeat since we can see most non-sport events we want online or via netfix/other!  any suggestions, from you who are more tech savvy about how to cut satellite/cable tv once and for all, would be much appreciated  :)

It's 2017.  MLB has done some Friday Night Facebook broadcasts this year.  Even the NFL is doing some Thursday night Twitter streams this year.  With the new Facebook Watch app announced this month, watching things on Facebook will now be as common as watching things on Netflix.  We've actually reach a point where you as a customer can be more flabbergasted if they are struggling with a webstream than they are that a game you want  is on Facebook.

  • This leaves Cincy, Kent and Charlotte as the only games not streaming or on TV at the moment. Any insight as to what will happen for these games?

Unfortunately the reality is our alternative option is streaming on nothing and broadcasting on nothing. As an out of town fan I'd rather be on FB, Twitter, ESPN3 then some regional Sinclair channel that I might possibly find in my extended cable sports package. Major sports will continue to move to streaming, so might as well get used to it now.

You really can't cut it out. We tried sling to do just that. It was horrible. Battery killing on whatever you cast with, no real actual dvr, constant buffering and i get 85 meg speeds almost constantly. Freezes and cuts out randomly. Went back to directv with an absolute new appreciation of what you get when you pony up the money.

  • In the last few days, the CAA (Colonial Athletic Association) announced a 2 year deal with CBS Sports Digital to stream of the week in both football and men's basketball.  Deal also includes streaming of women's basketball championship game and championships of several spring Olympic sports.  Games can be viewed FOR FREE on www.collegesportslive.com.

Meanwhile, down in Dallas land CUSA officials are very busy doing ? ? ? ?  ?

We cut directv completely off. We have jailbroken Amazon Fire TV sticks and Apple TVs. We have Netflix, Kodi (the jailbroken stuff), a ton of free movies/tv shows from amazon because we're Prime customers, and an app called DirecTV Now, which is a live tv app that I get over 100 channels on for $34/month.

    So we went from...

      $140/month for directv
      $40/month for internet
    +$11/month for Netflix
    = $191/month

    To...

      $40/month for Internet
      $34/month for DirecTV Now
    +$11/month Netflix
    =$85/month

We save $106/month now. The only part I hate is not having DVR.

I have done pretty much the same. Even though I  now can get live TV, I seldom ever watch it at all. Pretty much Firestick and free jailbroken stuff.

I'd love to do this, but have no trust in Comcast internet service for the streaming.
