With much-anticipated freshman Cole Phillips parading off to Austin Peay, Marshall’s placekicking battled narrowed further.

Kaare Vedvik exited the public portion of Marshall’s preseason camp as a good bet to add the field goal duties to his role as punter. The Norwegian has shown a stronger leg this month and has missed few field goals.

  • man, he must've really had a bad experience!  or too big of an ego?  come in as a true FR & unwilling to RS a yr?  i mean, not like he got beat out by a fellow FR.  i mean, we were 4/10 on FGs last yr & vedvik was available for us to use.  i take that to mean a yr ago he wasn't any better than our kicker that could only hit 40%.  i'd hardly give up on eventually replacing that guy, if i were cole.

  • I believe he was a walkon.  Probably needed to win job to go on scholly.  My guess is he had a scholly offer in back pocket from AP and plan all along was to take scholly there if he didn't win job here....but who knows.

BTW, I saw that Testeverde's son is leaving Miami, FL since Richt named another guy starting QB. Seems to happen more and more.

Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

  • Two more kickers still showing on the roster. Perhaps they performed better in practice??

Freshman - Shane McDonough Clearwater, FL

Redshirt Freshman - Robert Lefever, Hilliard, Ohio

Anyone have knowledge about either kicker??

I think you nailed it, word out of practices all along was at least one other walkon kicker was well ahead of him. Maybe he could read the tea leaves, the opportunity for a scholly appears to be much better at Austin Peay than with the Herd.

If that is really what happened... maybe too much blame on the coaches for Cole making the decision........??
