“I’ve always held my standards up very high when dealing with kids,” Moss said. “And the Spartan Foundation gives kids those chances that a lot of us never had. For me to be able help kids and raise some money for Spartan is great.”

“Run of the mill” is a foreign term when it comes to the obstacles in a Spartan race. Competitors can crawl under barbed wire, surmount 7-foot walls, lug heavy stone spheres, throw spears and even leap over fire.

Moss said the fire pit was one of the tasks he couldn’t wait to tackle.
