  • I think there is a misunderstanding in the fans perspective. Nobody is saying they aren't happy we are winning.  And I realize we can only beat who we play. But some of us aren't sold when (like someone said) the teams we beat are a combined 8-25. ODU and Charlotte didn't even have a football team until a few short years ago. UAB dropped football and is starting over. Kent and Miami are both really bad. Now if we had of beaten all of these teams by 30-40 points or more I don't think anyone would be complaining because the results would be what you expect against really bad teams. Like I said I think our D is pretty solid but I would like for them to be tested. I think Heater is the best coach we have on the staff IMO. Doc and Legg are holding the offense back and that is sad. Doc on the post game show exposed who he is. He said the special teams and D played great and the offense did what we ask them (just take care of the ball). That said it all. he is old school and doesn't want the offense to take any chances unless they are in dire need. That is why we struggle against most teams that we should be blowing out. Today worked out but that is why we struggle at times with much inferior teams. Let the offense play and stop playing afraid.

    EXACTLY.

  • Now it's 28-3, likely 6-1 to start this year. How many predicted 1-5 or 2-4 at this point??

Ugly win, but just win Baby!!!!

    35-3 isn't ugly

LOL, agree, but the first 3 quarters were wearing very hard on me... that part was ugly. We had too many opportunities and the penalty that gave them a first down almost made me stop listening.

I still have the jitters and shakes from last year. Chuck Heaters defense is enough to love this team. I keep hoping Chase will find his grove like in Cincinnati..... would be nice next Friday to put some points on the board EARLY!!!

  • or...we just don't have all the talent it takes to run the ball in FBS. Just like we don't have the inside players in BB to beat a really good team. Youguns on OL coming along. Many back next yr with Davis and King plus more at RB. Patience is the name of the game. For instance like waiting till the second half rather than posting $hit early and then looking like a dum$hit like some today.

  • I should add this. I am a HUGE Denver broncos fan.

Denver won SB 50 with a below average offense. DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!
Depends on the metric but 16th of 32 in YPG, 19th of 32 in PPG, I would say is pretty much average.

They were certainly below average for a SB Champ.

    Qualitatively, your point is correct.

I'm bitching about you accepting being 5-1 in a very poor conference, that's probably on the level of an AA conference, lol.. :)

Now, In all seriousness, I'm very happy we're 5-1. I still have concerns about our offense and we still haven't won ( a conference championship).

  • Happy we won. But once again, EVERY WIN so far this year, ALL 5, came against teams with losing records. Our wins have come against teams with a combined 8-25 record. Doc again is so dang lucky we play nothing but cupcakes. Dude literally hit the lottery. Makes millions off of a schedule full of 2-10 teams (and yes that is what it averages out to be), then loses to every team with a pulse.

What happens when we play an average team or God forbid a good team. Well if we keep playing like this we'll get destroyed. We made soon to be 0-7 Charlotte look like Notre Dame last week.

happy we won?  no you're not, you are butt hurt we won, and said as much

Read your post here tomorrow... you say you are bitching about a fan who is enjoying our 5-1 record in the conference we play in that is unacceptable to you.

Ok then find a team in a conference you respect, because reality is CUSA is where we play....

If you think we can compete the P5 schools with 5 times more students paying twice what ours pay, 10 times our state funding, 20 times our Big Green contributions, that is not reality.

If you call being up only 7-3 at halftime against ODM on homecoming gameday, bitching! then hell yes I was bitching and I was pissed! So you have a problem with me being concerned, about our "inept offensive coordinator"? We should be blowing teams like, ODM, Charlotte, out of the water every time we play them. You act as though we're in the ACC and playing teams like Clemson, Pitt, Miami, etc. Guess what, we're not!

  • Look it all comes down to this. There are 2 sides in the Herd camp. I don't think neither side is wrong and for sure neither side is wanting the Herd to lose. We all want our Herd to be the best they can be. One side is just happy we win and they don't care if we beat the 12 bottom teams in football by 3 points every game. And that is not a knock, honestly it isn't. And there is the other side that I am on. I know we have to play the teams in this conference and the teams that was scheduled OOC. But I do expect to beat a Charlotte and Kent St and Miami Oh that play some of the worst football in all of college football by more than we are doing and struggling to do. I would like to be relevant again in College football and not have collapses like we had last year that was the worst Marshall team since we came out of 1AA by far. And even the 1AA days teams would have destroyed last years team. I do expect to beat a Charlotte by more than 14-3. That was embarrassing against a team like that, that is just now getting there feet wet playing college football. But it was better than losing to them on our home field. It's just that some of us want to be relevant again and 5-1 is great. But any expert would look at our games and scores and not be impressed at all. Just take care of business and if we play one of the worst teams in college football, then beat them like they are the worst team in college football. Again we all want to win all our games. The difference is some are willing to play at a low level as long as we win and some want us to look like a team that is top 25 or closing in on it. We are winning but we are not even close to being that type of team.

On the flip side, if we were in one of those Big time P-5 conferences, we would be getting more money from the conference and probably more donations. One thing that stood out to me today that's a real concern that's being over looked, and that's the crowd at today's game. This was a home coming game, even in our worse years under Snyder was always packed. The Herd fans that didn't show up, you don't think they were sending a very "unhappy message?"

And by doing so, digging the hole deeper to climb out from???

Fewer fans doesn't just send a message to whomever you want to reach. It also impacts potential recruits. Also reduces budgets for graduate assistants, recruiting, stadium improvements, raises to keep the coaches you do like, etc, etc..

That's why when you are the AD you don't do the following.

    1) Give a most ridiculous contract extension to your HC when there is no reason to.
    2) Call out and place blame on fans when said HC proceeds to have a 3-9 dumpster fire season.
    3) Don't seem concerned about making changes when evidence was clear that fans want a more exciting team on the field.

The NFL is making a similar mistake in alienating a big portion of their fan base with the anthem protest controversy.  You upset the fans and they may walk and never come back.

Hamrick and Doc need to get the fans back and energized.  Winning is helping, but for some the wins are not convincing enough that we are back.  Seeing that small Homecoming crowd yesterday with the beautiful weather was very alarming.

  • I find this season pretty amazing...I complained last year, did not renew my Big Green after no coaching changes were made, did not renew my season tickets....with that said, I have been to 4 of the 6 games this season...have enjoyed the fact that this seems like a "TEAM" verses the individuals we had last year...my protest is over...

As a long term Herd fan....enough with the schedule nonsense...as has been posted many times...we were not beating the 85 Bears during our glory years...we had a few great wins but the competition is similar...we played a top 15 team on the road close  this season and have won the rest.

    Go Herd....

I always wonder who the great teams we were beating in the 90s.  Who was the great teams the 97-99 beat?   South Carolina?  Temple?  I will give people Clemson but they were 6-6 if I recall correctly. I remember a blocked FG that helped the 98 team beat a I-AA game.   The MAC was not the MAC of the early 2000s or now.  Go back and look at the records.  Saying that beating all those teams weren’t indicative of just how good those teams were. We are. Or playing for a spot in an access game so I don’t give a crap about how good a team is. Just win is all I care about.  Very few if any had us 5-1 at this point.  The NC state game changed on two trick plays and 2 turnovers. We could have won that game as easily as we lost.   All I know is we are 5-1 have a few problems at time but are 5-1.  It sure Beats 1-5.  Plus it is better to peak late and we are no where near peaking yet.

  • Not a fan of the offense but I love this team...effort is all I ask for and it is evident that is the biggest change from last year.

We have talent and this team could win 10 games and be set up for a special season next year.  Enjoy the victories because we all know how quickly they can disappear.
