Your favorite college football team is about to put another assistant coach on the field. Today, the NCAA passed a measure to allow teams to have 10 assistant coaches, to be hired by schools, effective Jan. 9, 2018.

FBS teams can add a tenth on-field coach starting Tuesday.  There is an article noting this in the H-D today too.  This might be part of the reason Heater moved to Maryland.  Power 5 teams with deep pockets will start cherry-picking the best of the Group of 5 and FCS coaches, paying them more than they can make where they are even if they are a coordinator or perhaps even a head coach.  It was reported that the last Maryland Safeties Coach mad $250,000.  Heater, who is filling this role, was making $230,000 as a coordinator at MU.

Also have to consider where another 125 qualified coaches come from to backfill those lost.  I see this further weakening the Group of 5 at the expense of the Power 5.

Another reason to find the best coaches across all divisions and pro level.  And there are Hs coaches that can easily coach college and pro ball.
