  • Good thing we gave Beals more time and a bigger buyout lol Christian Spears has no clue what he's doing with men's sports.

  • Grassie and Beals both won exactly 18 games last season, both defeated (and lost to) WVU, and neither lost a game in the SBC tourney.

  • Greg Beals is 34-70 overall at Marshall. And he is 14-46 in Sun Belt play. Does someone have rocks in their head down there? With this kind of thinking, we may be stuck with Charles Huff for the next 15 years.

We've had 1 season  with a stadium,  got to give him a chance now that we have adequate facilities.

Until 2029? lol Maybe revisit his contract in after next season and then decide.

The Spears way. He is absolutely clueless on hiring men's coaches (Huff wasn't his doing), but the hiring process for baseball and basketball both have been a joke. Nothing against Greg Beals at all, but to get a 3 year extension already is wild. He got ran out of Ohio State by boosters because he wasn't good enough for them. I'm not sure they are any better now than when he was there, but like show us a little bit of something. I know the SBC is a good baseball conference, but like show us something in the right direction.

  • The AD is a targeted search kind of guy.  Meaning he doesn?t search.

  • I agree it was probably a year early to extend Beals, but I kind of get the potential rationale. This eliminates any excuse given he now has a year of the new stadium under his belt and he can show recruits the facilities. Remember, even before this year, he was just showing blueprints and partially completed facilities. Now he can tell recruits he is under contract for the duration of their eligibility.

Sorta like MH didn't search for coaches when he hired DD? He had MD in his sites, flew to LA to get him, when it didn't turn out, MD convinced MH to hire DD.

But great to see Grassie on board for many more years. Hopefully Beals will earn the extension. Year 3 and 4 will be pivotal.
